Good genuine asian food around Cal? I hope so!
Hi I am an international OOS student, got rejected from Berkeley, Harvard, and Princeton also
SAT 1: 1480 (690 EBRW,790 math)
SAT 2: 800 in both Physics and Math L2
Gpa 4.0/4.0 and 4.92/5.00 unweighted
a few extracurriculars I have been doing for 4 years or more. Applied for mechanical engineering at Berkeley.
Feeling very sad, but still hoping to get into Stanford tomorrow!
Also, I am thinking of submitting an appeal form to Berkeley. I am putting my latest mid-year grades and other awards I have won, should I also include anything else?
@musiciangoaler yep tons of places just outside campus at decent college budget prices too. Thereâs even an Asian Ghetto.
Do you have places for reference of what you might consider to be âgoodâ?
Any insights on Cal Day and what events to join?
@ProfessorPlum168 I visited Famous Bao few years ago (not 100% sure that is the name) but it is a 5 minute walk from the campus and I consider that closer to âgoodâ food because the noodles were very chewy and real.
DS got accepted!!! He was so excited he even made me cry! Iâve heard of so many kids now that got accepted at UCB but rejected at UCLA and accepted at UCLA but rejected at UCB. I guess they really are looking at different things - and DS seems much more like a Berkeley kid to me! Thanks for all the wonderful advice and calming and encouraging words on this forum!
How big of a deal is it to attend the Cal Day on April 13? We will plan to get out there sometime this month (we are OOS), but that day is DSâs Senior Prom and I know he was really looking forward to going with his group of friends.
actually insanely shocked I was waitlisted. I was expecting a straightforward rejection but the hope paid off partly.
UC GPAS: 3.72 UW, 4.45 W, 4.09 Capped
SAT: 1190; no subject tests
Was asked and submitted LORs
Applied to Undeclared Physical Sciences
@musiciangoaler oh I seeâŠGong Cha is right next door. This is one that actually serves food as well as boba. Right next to it is T-Toust which serves pretty decent Korean food. You go one block down and you hit Asian Ghetto which as all kinds of Asian restaurants of various cuisines. Most of these places cater more towards college kids palates though. Also non-Asian restaurants too like Gypsyâs Trattoria and Top Dog and a bunch of pizza places. On the north end, north of the campus is Gourmet Ghetto which has a ton of all kinds of restaurants. Food is one thing you wonât have to worry about at Berkeley.
@lisalisae congrats! I think Cal Day is a great event. Youâll get to see not only classrooms and go to booths on every subject imaginable, but get actual dorm tours which you wonât get to see on a normal tour. There will be a mass of humanity there so chances he can meet some of his future classmates there.
my email did mention that they accepted a quarter of the 87,000 that applied so 25%
does anyone know whether it makes a difference WHEN you accept your waitlist offer? If I wait a couple of days so that I can write my essay will it affect anything?
Congrats to the class of 2023! Go Bears!
For those who didnât get in, you guys all seem hard-working and motivated, continue to work hard and you will find success wherever you go!
Now, enjoy your senior year, hang out with friends, go have fun, yâall deserve it!
I got into Berkeley but Iâm worried about the academic rigor. Is it significantly easier as a social science major than STEM major?
D
S
DS
What do you people do with all your free time you have by not typing Son & Daughter?
And what is DS supposed to mean?
@wheredoiwanttogo i highly doubt it. Cal is famous for its social sciences as well. I have 4 friends there that are currently in social sciences and spend a lot of time studying and working (no less than those in STEM!)
As a social science major, do GEs require Multi-variable Algebra, Calculus, or Physics⊠etc?
@musiciangoaler Iâm curious about that as well
My D19 got accepted to L&S. She is OOS.
Does anybody know the acceptance rate this year?
Jeeeeez - The parents on here are more competitive to get their kids into a college than the kid themselves.
They love this process of being stressed for their kids.
Now I see how itâs possible that some parents pay bribes to get their kids ahead of other peopleâs children. The parents are elbowing other parents.
