I think we are over thinking this. It’s not uncommon the IDs encode some information that helps the University’s daily operation, such as the college the student belongs to, etc. There are 6 digits after 3040 or 3041. Any one with a 3041 can verify the trailing 6 digits have ran up to several times of yearly total applicants, so almost certainly there is more to the IDs than a simple sequential assignment.
I honestly do wish that portal astrology for Berkeley wasn’t such a sure way to tell if it really is. I regret looking at it and not seeing the ID. It feels much better knowing that no one really knows and they’re just guessing. I have seen some people in this thread talking about the potential for more people getting IDs in the coming days, but I’ll admit it does feel a little hopeless. Just my two cents from a Berkeley hopeful.

hi. i applied to berkeley summer sessions last year and got in and they gave me a cal net id. i can log in with map thru campus solutions and see an id at the top but its the same as the summer sessions one. i did NOT attend summer sessions last year. what does this mean? i applied ccds btw.
Hey I was able to log in and had a 304 Id this morning but now I cant login it says
“Sorry, CalCentral currently does not recognize your login. You may log out and try again, or contact our support team”
Does this mean I got rejected?

nevermind I got to login again and got a 3041 Id. Im oos and never interacted with berkeley before so does this mean im in?

Honestly anyone who has done summer sessions before OR has had some association with Cal before wherein they assigned a CalNET ID, has no foolproof way to confirm acceptance/rejection before Thursday.
As a grown-up (i’m here for my kid) I had the same feeling every step of my life. Worried that I’ll fail at getting into my dream grad school so I aimed at a less prestigious one. Worried that I can’t get a job but it turned out okay. Heck even worried I won’t get a girlfriend but his mom is the linchpin of our family. You are talking about one of the most prestigious schools in the world. It’s far from a failure even if you don’t get into it. It might sounds a cliche but take a long view of life and you’ll be okay!

I am pretty sure major doesn’t mean anything as pretty much people from every major both do and don’t have their ID
If you see ID —> accepted
If not —> waitlist or reject
