@phanp16 Given your states, be aware that the new restrictions on OOS FA mean that you may find private universities to be far more affordable. We’ve had OOS students transfer from Cal to Columbia. They are heartbroken but Berekely (and UC as a whole) just doesn’t have the money any more).
Same @10s4life
@10s4life I guess that all of us except those who got accepted yesterday received this email
Crossing my fingers and praying that my name comes out on March 24th.
just got that email too
@10s4life Received the email as well. First correspondence I’ve had from the school since LOR and portal emails were sent out. I never got a Happy New Years email like other applicants did.
Does the email mean anything?
@scoobysnacks56 Nah. Most likely it was automatically sent to everyone who didn’t receive admissions yesterday so the other 80,000 or so of applicants.
I received this email too.
Here’s a link to an article that explains the early release of notifications.
“The earlier notification will allow top students more time to explore the option of becoming a Berkeley student”.
Sounds to me like they are trying to improve their matriculation rate. They don’t want to lose top students to the Ivy’s and with the state budget issues, they might be trying to ensure the usual enrollment rate as well as beef up their average quantifiable data like unweighted gpa’s & SAT/ACT scores.

Got into Berkeley yesterday but did not receive a Regents invite. Oh well, I’m still so happy to have gotten in and am going for the TAAP/KASP anyway
Accepted yesterday with Regents invite! Holistic admissions DO exist! My GPA and ECs are great, but I couldn’t even break a 1900 on the SAT. If you’re reading this and thinking you can’t compete with the perfect kids on this website, remember: YOUR TEST SCORES DO NOT DEFINE YOU! Admission officers are looking to admit people, NOT numbers! Keep your head up and Go Bears!
I did not receive the email stating the my app is still under review. ???
@Mayzie check your spam folder.
Nope. Nothing. Did anyone else not get this email?
Oh, wait just found it. :\
I’m wondering if not submitting letter of recs is going to hurt me if it was berkeley’s fault…
Are our applications really still under review or do you think they already know who’s getting accepted and rejection letters next months?
@seachanging if I had to guess I would say borderline candidates are still being considered, since the top end would already have been determined for Regents
Anyone have any idea of the overlap between the top 2% of Berkeley apps and ivy admissions? Ie is admission now with Regents consideration of similar selectivity to general ivy admissions?
