***UC Berkeley Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

I heard rumor that UC system can know which uc school you already got in and will not fill you in all the schools, especially accept you both to UCLA and Berkeley. Is it true?

@khanam Oh…but what about in terms of academics? Would there be a drop in the quality in the UC system?

@hereiamcorn Like 89% of all rumors turn out to be false. And 100% of all rumors on THIS THREAD turn out to be false. And 43% of the statistics in this post is BS. lol.

Seriously, @IBGuy101 I find you on every single thread hahah. Did you get into UCLA in the end?

@IBGuy101 They do know which campus you apply to tho, it appears on your application form.

@rkn0706 Lol no, I was rejected by UCLA. If Berkeley does not accept me I will end up going to UCSD. Go Tritons! lol
@Desiree2 Yea, but UC’s do not communicate admission decisions to each other.

@IBGuy101 Ohhh I got into UCSD too! But I might go to UCLA, and if I get into UCB, I’ll have to make a really hard decision lol.

@10s4life How do they not see what campuses you clicked? Don’t they print off the application form (the same one as applicants have on their portal) which shows what campuses you applied to? Or is it a different edited application form that the admission officers read?

@rkn0706 there are some stories about way too big class sizes, some small enrollment classes being cancelled and some students finding it harder to graduate on time due to difficulty in arranging prerequisites. That is the way how it is impacting academics. Anecdotally, I’ve heard UCSD has been the worst impacted by this amongst the big 4 and UCB and UCLA are the least affected. UCSD’s 4yr graduation rate is only 56.6%, not because they have dumb students but because the school is ill equipped to handle the number of students it admits.

@jackisawesome I also got rejected from UCLA and waitlisted at UCSD… But from what I have heard, Berkeley values a lot more than just academics, whereas UCLA and UCSD make academics the most important part of their evaluation. I also heard that Davis is similar to Berkeley in its evaluation style, so there’s hope!!! :slight_smile:

@vsvatl can you please not

@vsvatl im sure unless anyone lives in a region called “The Future”, its not out

@vsvatl I genuinely dislike you

@vsvatl Did you get deferred or rejected?

Idk if i even have a chance at UCB after being waitlisted at UCLA

@imvegetarian2016 same

Quite a few applicants get in UCB while getting rejected by UCLA. don’t lose hope

Do we need to create a portal in order to find out about acceptance? Like how do we find out??

@imvegetarian2016 Depends on your profile, if your strength is academics, so you have great GPA/ scores/ and rigorous courseload and your EC is not your strong point and you did not get in LA. I would say your chances at Berkeley is not very good.

However, if your strength is ECs, and you did not get in LA, you still have a chance at UCB since UCB ( I have heard) is more holistic while LA cares more about academics.

The sad news is most people who dont get in LA don’t get in UCB either.

Don’t worry guys! I’m a current Berkeley student who was rejected from UCLA’s college of engineering and now I attend Berkeley’s college of engineering, which is harder to get into (8.9% acceptance rate vs 12% for UCLA). Only time will tell where you end up and TRUST me, everything will all work out. I know it’s easy to say on my end but I really wanted to go to Stanford, was rejected, and am now at a school with a better ranking than Stanford for my major and I absolutely love it. If you get into Berkeley, awesome. If you don’t, awesome. When one door closes, another opens, and you just have to believe that it will all work out in the end. Good luck and GO BEARS!!!
