***UC Berkeley Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

Admission officers are whack. I got honors program for UCSB and accepted to (normal) UCSD. Straight up rejection from UCLA. I’m not sure about my chances for Berkeley

Are decisions today??

@SwissAlps17 @knguyen1297 How did you guys find out you got into the honors program?

If i get in ucb, i swear ill be crying tears of joy for like a month. Praying ucb won’t be my first rejection but by the looks of it @-)
@chantal225 not yet, check back thursday afternoon/evening

So nervous, we’re so close

@sarale - You’ll do fine! Besides, even if you get rejected, you’ll survive. I’ve been rejected twice, one being my “dream school”. You’ll quickly bounce back and realize that there are so many amazing schools out there who would love for you to join them!

I swear if I see another “I got into [insert higher ranked UC] but I didn’t get into the [insert lower ranked UC] what the heck!!!” post… The UCs all look for different things in applicants. The schools are looking for different things. Different admissions teams read the applications for all the schools. Admission into one school doesn’t necessarily mean automatic admission to the ones with “lower rankings”

@mollikinz I agree. My classmates in school don’t believe it is possible to be rejected from a school like Davis or San Diego but accepted to Berkeley or LA. Its just ignorance and lack of knowledge of college admissions. Nothing more.

I was accepted into UCLA’s Electrical Engineering Fast Track program, which only 20 kids are admitted to. I heard from a reliable source (and quite so) that around 100 students are accepted into the Electrical Engineering program overall. Is this a good indicator that I got into Berkeley EECS? I’ve been sooo nervous for the last few weeks, and my other acceptances have barely made a dent in the anxiety that plagues my soul, festering every second.

2370 SAT 12 AP’s total (including this year) straight A’s and straight 5’s thus far, typical Asian EC’s if that helps any

All the people that keep asking when decisions come out are cracking me up. It literally says right there in the portal that it’s the 24th lol.

You know you are getting close to decision day when more and more conversations happen on the thread

Imagine being rejected from UCR but accepted into UCB with reagents

@JustKeepWaiting you will get in Cal for sure. Sleep tight

AHHHH I can’t wait until Thursday. I need to figure out my life

rejected from SLO, SD, LA, and possibly irvine, let’s see what happens here lmao

Does Berkeley email a link with the decision when they update the portals or do you have to check yourself?

i was waitlisted at every uc so far… fml

@arianameyers I think it’s released online through the portal and you have to check yourself…like UCLA?

Im happy college decisions are basically over for me at least (except ucb) but its bittersweet because I somehow like the anticipation of having something to wait for?!? It has certainly been a roller coaster of emotions though. Biggest regret would be not applying to ucla :o

@calidude2020 Congrats on being accepted into Mech Engineering
My dd was rejected, UCSB, UCLA waitlisted at UCI and Davis and UCSD for Mech Engineering I’m kinda baffled.
We are SOCAL based too

Her stats
2190 SAT 750 math, 710 CR, 730 writing
Sat II Math 730
10 APs including BC Calc
GPA 4.1
2 years research at Caltech working with scientists on solar panels
Varsity soccer
volunteer work tutoring underprivileged kids in a group home (still volunteering long after she met her requirements)

Would love to hear other Mech Engineers and other engineering programs out there especially girls who were accepted or rejected at UCs.

She was accepted at UC Mich and Mcgill, Washington so far. Waiting on Columbia, UCB, USC and University of Toronto
