UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

Did anyone who received the financial aid get denied by any other UC schools? If so, are you in or out-of-state?

Does anyone know when Regents’ decisions will be released?

@galbanus already did

Lmao I see people with super low test scores on here with high GPAs. It’s not fair that they got to easy high schools

lol same

@DDHH2017 Some people are great students but just poor test takers. I had to take the ACT 5 times before I got the score I wanted and I have a 4.76 GPA

@thereject22 I guess that’s definitely possible, but it’s just unfair that at my school our AVERAGE is a 1400, there are 30+ NMFs in my grade, and no one has straight As

@DDHH2017 colleges base your test scores off of the people in your school district. I come from a low income school where the average sat is low because we never get taught anything on the sat. The actual AP classes at my school are really hard and you have to work hard for an A and we usually score really high on the ap test. So just because our sat scores are low doesn’t mean we go to an easy school.

@noel334 Same bro, my school is like that too, and we do have to work for the A and for the high scores on AP exams, and my school is also low-income and a charter school.

What is with the address thing, and what does it mean? I just saw all the posts about it and now i’m concerned lol. I have four addresses in my portal right now.
If it helps, I’ve been accepted to UCSD, UCLA, UCSB, and UCI so far, so I hope it’s a good sign?

Life’s not always fair unfortunately. Most have “unfair” situations they can come up with but it’s how you work with what’s put in front of you. My S has lower SATs than that, as testing is very difficult for him. Hardly any resources/support at his school to get to college so he sought opportunities out himself. He has excellent ECs he’s put his heart and soul into over the years, has a HUGE heart and has had big dreams and goals for a decade now to attend UC Berkeley! I’m glad Berkeley claims to look at applicants holistically, because even those with the highest GPAs from the best schools might be lacking in compassion and not quite ready to try and change the world.

People from my school (instate) who got the FA email on Sunday all had extremely low test scores for Berkeley (I’m talking 1100-1200 SAT, meh GPA, etc) while some of the best students didn’t receive anything. Strange.

@Seohye did you get the acceptance email on sunday?

@noel334 What do you mean teach stuff on the SAT? It’s kind of just reading comprehension and simple math

That’s not to say you can’t be bad at testing tho. I know plenty smart people with mediocre scores

@Davidjcshen - I don’t think that Regents decisions have been out already.
@Galbanus - I’m pretty sure that Regents decisions will be released tomorrow at the same time whith regular decisions

Is it tomorrow, the decisions will be released?

@collegefind1234 Regent’s scholarships, and all other defined merit scholarships, were released late Feb. There was an email sent out to the rest of the applicants explaining that admissions decisions were not released, only scholarship consideration extended.

Hey, what “address” are people referring to? Do you mean the reference number on the application screen (top left)? Thanks!

Also, does anyone know at what time the decision will be released? or will they be released throughout the day? and do we get an email notification when the decision is sent out? Thanks!
