does Berkeley do waitlist and what is the likelihood of getting of it?

According to Berkeley’s 2016-17 Common Data Set, 7,977 were offered a place on the waitlist for Fall 2016, 3,971 accepted a place on the waitlist and a whopping 2,136 were admitted. I haven’t seen the numbers for Fall 2017.
Actually that’s incorrect. Berkeley has one of the highest acceptance rates of the waitlist. Last year, three individuals from my school alone got off the waitlist, and it’s no surprise considering that their rate is about 30-40% when it comes to acceptance of the waitlist. So if you do end up getting that decision, stay optimistic!
Yes it came out at 3pm last year. Also, many people I know were waitlisted in EECS and in L&S and were accepted in June.

As a current Cal student who has also been through all the ups and downs a year ago, I just want to say EVERY ONE of you is AMAZING!!! In a couple of hours, if you find out that you get in, then Congratulations! Your hard work has paid off and prepare to work your ass off at Berkeley lol. If you didn’t get in, also Congratulations for getting through this super stressful college application process!!! I assure you that you will do great things no matter where you end up going. I did not want to come to Cal at all last year (out of state and some other personal reasons). Getting all those rejections was devastating to me, but eventually everything will work out. Now I’m enjoying my college life here. Just take a deep breath, and another…Also, have as much fun as you could while you are still in high school because college is hard!! You will soon realize that the second semester of senior year is the best time ever haha.
