I got an email to join the educational opportunity program, but I was waitlisted and I didn’t agree to be on it yet. Does this mean anything?
@gradclass2022 @yojhooo @rwcca34 @armymelody00 S on waitlist got same EOP email. REALLY POOR choice of wording!
@techrprnt so I’m guessing it doesn’t mean anything then? right?
Wait so the email stating I got in for EOP is false.
I visited campus today and went to the financial aid office in person to ask about the OOS tuition mistake and no one there seemed to know what to do and I did not receive much help. The woman who I met with told me she would need to send a ticket requesting residency change to the registrar’s office so they list me as in-state rather than out of state.
So I personally wouldn’t SIR if you have the tuition mistake as they’ll still have you listed as out of state.
It’s probably best to call and ask the financial aid people/ the registrar’s office to have yourself listed as in-state. Hopefully this works out, but I have a feeling I’m going to need to follow up a few times with both offices before this is fixed!
@gradclass2022 @yojhooo @rwcca34 , did you guys accepted waitlist status then got the email? Today we visited and went to Financial Aid to get an explanation of the breakdown of fees, payment options, and scholarship options (because my daughter got an email to apply for Berkeley scholarships). I had a thousand questions, housing, work study and studying abroad and how does financial aid help with that. When you go in person, they take the time to answer everything. It ended up being less than the expected balance on the package. My daughter Sir right there in the financial aid office. Once she did that, she immediately got an email from EOP. I wonder that if you accept waitlist status same thing happens.
Still writing my optional personal statement (500 words) for the waitlist opt-in. No, I have not opted into the waitlist yet. Already called the admissions office and spoke to a representative. She told me to disregard the EOP email as it has no relation to the office of undergraduate admissions. Checked my admission status. Still waitlisted.
S got EOP email too! Pretty confusing if a mistake! Talks more than once about being admitted…“celebrating your admission to UC Berkeley”. So are we not invited? Talk about roller coaster of emotions…
I have not accepted my waitlist status yet and also received the EOP email. I think they emailed it to the waitlist people, because we would have that opportunity if we were to be granted admission, so its almost like we are being treated like admitted students. Does anyone know where the suggestions for topics to write for the waitlist essay are? Also can waitlisted students undeclared letters of science if admitted off the waitlisted enter berkeley on the traditional pathway or only london or fall freshmen?
(they sent an apology email) again
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has been made aware of a message sent to you earlier today which included an invitation to the EOP New Student Reception. We understand that this message may have inadvertently implied that your wait list status has changed. We sincerely apologize for any confusion this message has caused, especially during this important time when you are weighing your college options.
While your status has not changed, we encourage you to attend the EOP reception to learn more about the UC Berkeley campus and the resources available to you. It would be great information for you to have should you ultimately be selected from the wait list.
The best action you can take at this time is make sure you opt-in to the wait list so you can be considered, if you have yet to do so. The deadline to opt-in is April 18, 2018 at 11:59 pm Pacific time.
As we shared in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) in your MAP@Berkeley portal, our office does not plan to release any notifications to students who are on the wait list until May. Thus, it is important for you to consider your other offers of admission and to select another university to attend by May 1. For more information on the wait list process, visit the wait list FAQ and view our Wait List video.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at (510) 642-3175 Monday through Friday from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm Pacific time.
did anyone on the waitlist not receive the EOP reception invite?
Wow :-?? @-) :-? 8-} [-( it was exciting while it lasted. How would one sign up? It asks for ID. @sophie052900 I think it would only be sent to those that meet certain criteria to be in EOP.
Do waitlisted students have an ID @knowledgeispower18 , because that would be something good to tweet to @CalAdmissions, because they said they would love to have waitlisted students.
@sophie052900 I don’t have twitter but it would be good to know. If you ask and they respond could you let us know ?
yes of course! i just tweeted them! I will see if they respond in the morning!
Is anyone doing the “appeal to a nonresident classification” and sending it to the office of general counsel?
Good Luck to everyone on the waitlist. On today’s tour which was about 35 students, they asked us all if we SIR yet. Only one student raised their hand
@sophie052900 thank you! I feel like they should consider those that got the email implying they’ve been accepted first. This program is intended to provide added support to those that might need it…not more confusion and worry about their acceptance What’s weird too is I haven’t seen anyone admitted say they got it ?
@sophie052900 , my daughter got the email as soon as she Sir. EOP is for first generation students or low income students. EOP students are guaranteed housing for 4 years in dorms. The rest are pretty much guaranteed only for two years. This is not only in UC Berkeley, it’s pretty much all the UCs. EOP students also get priority registration for classes .
I applied to berkeley and UCSD, rejected from berkeley and accepted to UCSD. I didn’t have a class that qualified the F subject area (Visual & Design Arts), does anyone think that led to my rejection of cal state and UCSD just overlooked it?
