Lol idk bro I think that’s a good sign! But once again these nuances may or may not be good. I’ll reiterate once again that the calcentral presir thing is a certain way to find out though. I’m hoping my sister gets in but she didn’t get an email and she won’t let me check using the calcentral thing. She got into ucla and uc irvine but was waitlisted at davis and rejected from sb and ucsd. Didn’t realize these other lower tier ucs are tryna be more selective. It’s some weird sh it.
@Chrisq1
My daughter was waitlisted at Davis. We found out they received 75,000 applications, and only admitted 5900. I heard last year was similar, maybe not as extreme.
Also, UCSD has been more difficult to get into for awhile. Not to the extreme that Berkeley is, but pretty selective still.
hey guys i only have two addresses so i am kinda worried. who else has four addresses ?
@Chrisq1 I tried to sign in to calcentral with the map thing option and it gave me this weird number saying you, (the #) have successfully logged into the central authentication service. After that it said I was not able to sign in anymore. How do you check with the Summer thing? How do you register and stuff
@Cheetodust I only have two too… I’m scared
@Cheetodust @noel334 Hmmm I have 2 mailing addresses but only one permanent address…
What type of email are you folks talking about? and recently?
you can’t login to calcentral using your map login. You need a calnet id to login to calcentral. So to get a calnet id you sign up for summer sessions. If you aren’t admitted then they make a calnet id for you and email it to you after like a couple hours to one day. If you are already admitted then they say will email you a calnet id but really what they are emailing you is one that is already created for you because you’re already in the system as PRESIR (pre statement of intent to register) and you can check what status you are once you are able to get in. if you want more detailed instructions check out the threads from last year or the year before because that’s where people tried it first
and if you’re already in then the calnet id is emailed to you within like 30 minutes exactly because it is like automated. if they have to make one for you because you aren’t admitted then some tech person makes it for you so the time varies but it’s definitely like a couple hours at least
and you can sign in using your map to calcentral but not until decisions are officially released I believe. The summer thing is a way to find out an actual calnet id so you can check now.
what happens if I sign up for summer sessions, but don’t actually want to do them? Can I just cancel it at any time?
you can sign in calcentral with map login – it will however just say not recognized.
@Chrisq1 Thanks for clearing it up. I didn’t attend the summer thing so I am back to square one. I was fine waiting until this whole email mess started. Wish I didn’t read that email.
You sign up for summer sessions but you don’t actually register for classes haha it’s just so you can get your cal net id (if you’re admitted) or have them make you one (if you’re not admitted)
thank you so much!
anyone else have four addresses
I forgot the other thing the person said to me in admissions when I said at least the other schools notified everyone immediately that they weren’t actually admitted when they screwed up, was “we aren’t making you wait to break your hearts”. I think that may be a good sign and 2% is definitely not large enough for those waitlist stays above. Thanks guys for posting those.
I’m clicking reply and it’s being weird so sorry if it’s not an individual reply haha I’m on my phone. And It’s all good guys no worries I know that some people can’t wait and the anticipation is killing you guys like it did me so I tried to find any kind of clue so that I could ascertain earlier than other people whether I got in. I’m sure all of you guys and or your kids are dope students and you’ll all probably be successful regardless of what school you go to. Even if you go to a cc or take time off from school that’s fine too since being a non traditional student can be more marketable. Besides so many students nowadays build their life around school and so they collapse and crumble when things don’t work out for you. And chances are things will go wrong for you especially if you go to cal or other uc colleges where grade deflation is crazy. But it’s also not that bad at cal
you don’t sign into CalCentral until you get admitted. so if you got the email about logging into CalCentral or being able to access your financial aid package through MAP@Berkeley we do not access yet cause techinaically we “haven’t been admitted yet”. we get our ID’s and all our login information when we can access our portals and check if we’ve gotten admitted.
I seriously love berkeley though. I chose it over ucla and it’s been crazy not gonna lie
