So this is what I was referring to earlier today about trying to get into the portal by signing up for summer classes to get your calnetID. So this guy appears on here telling everyone “how to get around this system and gain access”. Why wouldn’t that be considered hacking??? Read the article there were consequences for their behavior

@nyudream2221 and like I said earlier “some” is the operative word. Reality is trying to get around the system lacks integrity and honesty period and the school would frown upon such behavior and it could cost people admissions.

That’s not getting around the system. That’s using the system they provided. If we purposely attempted to break in or “have” their database, that’s not ok. It’s like complaining about having your data taken when you use Facebook. You agreed to it, what you didn’t agree to was that your data and the data in your contacts was gonna be taken and sold for a profit. 2 completely different issues.

Completely disagree are you supposed to Know admission decisions before they release? No you aren’t. If you come up with a way to find that out by doing dishonest things to gain access through a back door, then that is unethical and dishonest. Period.
