UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

@idocrossfit did you just find out?

@YoungOne4 yes I agree that would be helpful. Last night it seemed they were updated again going back to 2 then some waking up with 4. Very interesting :-/ And my opinion for what it’s worth…my son did not sign up for summer sessions but I feel those that did, did something that sounded to be completely permissible and if they somehow uncovered a glitch (which it doesn’t sound like they really did) that may have been helpful for IT to know. I feel like it goes along with all the other research and hypothesis speculating people do on here whether it be by reading thru old posts for patterns, asking questions about emails, questioning their chances…etc. I mean that is what this page is for correct? Not to bash one another but rather be a support system. I personally am impressed with what our future holds with these driven young adults in it! They are posting on a college applicant site…there is so much trouble to be had out there that they’re not partaking in =D>

I think it was the email from a few days ago.

I had two addresses as long as I can remember. I checked this morning and had four. Likewise, while I think it holds little (if any) bearing on the decisions, the fluctuation is undeniably weird and taking the time to update portals in such a miniscule way seems like it can’t just be for nothing. Do they send out rejection letters?

@idocrossfit nice prank

@stevensonjj0 had you checked yesterday? Yeah I think weird too. If it bizarrely correlated to admissions would they be making decisions up to the last min? Who knows…another mystery in the process…

@knowledgeispower18 Yeah I did check yesterday. It’s so weird. But I don’t think they’re still making decisions, but rather making preparations so that it can go smoothly. Or maybe it is connected to Summer Sessions. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

the admissions themselves said that the addresses don’t matter. They could be mixing things up so it’s not obvious

@Yaboical Very true, oh well. We are going to find out soon anyway

@byeretirement This group of people is hardly representative of the 29,000 undergrads that are enrolled at Berkeley. I don’t think you should make a genereralization based on a group of people who are stressed out and feeling a bit out of control as their fate is out of their hands. Head on over to the NYU thred right now (and many others as well) and you will see similar attempts to get a early indicator of admission or rejection. Just as schools make mistakes in their notification process, I am sure that each year there are indicators of admission that the admission staff can address the following year and minimize the opportunities for exposure. It is interesting you mentioned Michigan - while many students have already heard their admission decision, many of us have not. They are making us wait until mid April to hear our admission decision. Out of all the admissions processes - the UMichigan one has given me the worst feeling. Kids like me have to decide where to go to school by May 1st and it just seems ridiculous that the UMichigan staff wasn’t able to process the applications in time to give their prospective students a decent time to give our decisions the due diligence they deserve. We all have to go with our gut feelings on where we will be the most comfortable. I really would caution you not to give up on Berkeley because a handful of kids on an admission thred conducted themselves in a way that you didn’t condone. Good luck to everyone! It’s been quite a ride for all of us during this admission season. I, for one, am looking forward to having it all behind us soon. And I really hope Berkeley is an option for me.

Well said, and impressively communicated @optimistic43.

So the 4 addresses don’t really matter ?

We’ll see, @saraujo0007. When you post your result, mention how many addresses you had right before decisions are released.

ok ill do that tomorrow.

yeah of course, do you know if anyone on here has not received 4 addresses (sorry I just barley joined this thread)

@optimistic43 yes, well said. Of course generalizations are anything but productive. Just that this threadwas so over the top.

Regarding Michigan, I feel your pain. Ten days is not enough time. I’d suggest the obvious, do a few accepted day visits prior to mid-April and leave Michigan to the third week in April. My D found out in December and when I went to see about accepted students days I was shocked to see that they had none post March 30. I called admissions and asked them about this advising that a trip to Michigan was an investment and that it would be odd to make such an investment prior to hearing back from all her other applications. They advised that as of then (and now) they had no planned accepted students days in April. So I had no choice and invested in a visit even though she was not committed to umich yet. Luckily the town and school blew her mind and the trip actually helped her inch closer towards a decision and in that regard worthwhile.

Was this the email which was sent?

You may have recently received a message from our office directing you to financial aid information on CalCentral. This notification was inadvertently sent to a small group of applicants prior to the release of admission decisions and should not be considered final.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will release final admissions decisions in MAP@Berkeley on Thursday, March 29th. Financial aid information will also be available in CalCentral at that time.

Please know there is no action you need to take at this time. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or additional concern this may have caused for you and your family at an important time during the college admissions process.

If you have questions, please do not reply to this email; the email address from which this message was sent is unmonitored. Please contact Cal Student Central at:

Or is this email regarding the actual email that a small group received?

I feel like the people that got the acceptance email from financial aid got into berkeley. Who knows, they’ve probably made our decisions a month ago

Berkeley has made its decisions. They are never down to the wire in that regard, relative to issuing the decisions.

Did any Regents kids see a change in their financial aid page on CalCentral?
Yesterday morning, the page gave me a quantitative number under “Grants and Scholarships.” However, when I opened up the the financial aid page in the evening, the entire page was blocked and told me that I cannot access it until 3/29.
