UC Berkeley Class of 2028 Official Thread

Confirming this from last few years. I think S21’s was 3-3:30pm PST ish.

That’s not how it works. Please look at the actual published admit rates. The admit rates historically for the 4.8-5.0 range is slightly lower than the 4.6-4.8 range. After a certain GPA threshold, a higher threshold has very little marginal impact and it will come down to the remaining 12 of the 13 review factors.

Here’s data directly from Berkeley. The admit rate in COE for the 4.8-5.0 GPA cohort is 18.7% and for the 4.6-4.8 range is 18.8%. >80% of applicants in the GPA range 4.6-5.0 still got denied and guess what a whole lot of people with a lower GPA got in, albeit on much lower admit rates.

People obsess about the GPA because they feel like they lost an A somewhere or messed up a test in high school etc while ignoring the 12 other factors that drive the holistic admissions process. Cal means it when they say they are looking for leaders with a well-rounded portfolio.

I know nothing about UCB but am shocked at how bad this thread is suggesting the food is. Could it just be a generation of kids who have been spoiled by easy access to “finer” foods? My son would eat just about anything put in front of him. Good to hear about the Grubhub option though.

It is not THAT bad. My kid is a spoiled foodie as you say, and on top of that, has a somewhat restricted diet, but he says that he can find okay things to eat at the dining halls every day.

He does check the menus before going to eat, and picks the dining hall with the best looking options that day. And Grubhub is a nice option too.

I am sure there are some dining halls better then others. My student is at Clark Kerr and the food there is subpar for sure in all ways.

The location of Clark Kerr tends to make it more time consuming to go to other dining halls to eat so slightly limited in that way.

She does make sure to eat at Browns Cafe and Laddle and Leaf on campus at least once a day (it is a meal swipe) and they have pretty good food.

I originally thought the same thing about this generation of kids being foodies, but I have been in the Clark Kerr’s dining hall and seen and tasted the food and it is a complete no go for me too and I like a good meal but in no way consider myself a foodie.

Ah yes Clark Kerr. My son doesn’t go to that one so I know nothing about it. Kids in the units have the choice of both crossroads and cafe 3 pretty near (and he is also often in the engineering buildings closer to Foothill, so he goes there when it looks good).

Is the resultttt outttt!!!

not yet at least for me :((((

No maybe 3:30?

nothing yet

If one was accepted to berkeley would they get an email saying congratulations a few hours later?

Normally the portal will update first and then an email follows for all decisions.
