My second year Bear also went with random roommate his first year. It was also a good choice for him. He ended up getting an apartment with 3 of his suitemates who have been just great this year and renewed their lease together for year 3. His actual 1st year roommate was good and nice, but didn’t click enough to continue as apartment mates. They have reconnected a few times this year for some fun club get togethers.

Please do not join a FB group run by the third party, Humans of University. It looks like there are thousands of parents in that group, but the majority of members are not affiliated with UC Berkeley

Thanks I asked to join the one ran by parents days ago but no one has accepted my request. Is there a way to invite someone to the group?
Some of the parent groups wait until after the SIR deadline to make sure that they are accepting parents of new students, not those that are trying to decide. I’m not sure if that is what is happening with the Berkeley group.

Good to know, as I tried to join the Cal parent run FB page during Cal Day when the parent group had a booth at the event and now it’s 4 1/2 weeks later and I still haven’t been approved/admitted. I did break down and join the 2028 page, despite the humans group connection, and it is very active and helpful with real parent questions.
@anon4school @earlobrien and @foodiemom I reached out to the admin for the Cal parent run FB group. They asked that people put in another request and to make sure that they answer all three questions.

Hmmmm, I’ve put in two previous requests for the Cal Parent run FB group (a month ago and 2 weeks ago) and answered all three questions with both requests - I didn’t want to harass them, but maybe the third time is the charm?
