UC Berkeley Class of 2028 Official Thread

thank you, it’s really comforting. a little bit too good to be true.

Seems illogical. That email is just general information for everyone. Don’t know why regents candidates won’t receive it.

One person in reddit said . We got email but i informed it from reddit

Do you have a link to the reddit post/comment?

Doesn’t make any sense to me, either. Regents scholars must also complete this requirement, and therefore need this information as well.

Ok. I will go my history

I am really sorry that i couldn’t find the person. But i will give the link if i found.

I read that a person told that everyone got email but if you didn’t get email because you were selected as regent. I was also disappointed with this. But i was inclined to this since most we got the email
But berkeley doesn’t take most us as regents. I also hope it was only his opinion.
We reported SAT test on application ( there was space) and it asked for reporting English writing part at AP or any test report section.
My son got 400 in Writing and English composition 780. So we don’t need worries and UC berkeley sent emails to everyone disregarding scores. But i doubt now why some didn’t get email?

Honestly this sounds like someone trying to start a rumor either to get attention or to just mess with people’s heads. I very much doubt it is true.

I am not experienced with the ins and outs of how email works, but I do know that if you are trying to send email to 100,000+ applicants, things can easily break and it might not reach a few people.

I believe you. Above parent said that her child didn’t get it.

Or there may have been some tiny “opt in” button somewhere on the UC app that some people automatically clicked to accept and some people automatically rejected without even fully realizing that they were doing it and perhaps that button is what controls all of these non-admissions-related communications. Who knows. But I do doubt that it is meaningful in any way.

My student was a Regents candidate in 2020 and received the ELWR email.

Good!!!

I am kind of worried because my D22 got in as Regents scholar and did not receive the writing requirement email (she received a 5 in English Lang/Lit and an 800 in SAT reading/writing). My S24 did receive the writing requirement email. He didn’t take any AP exams in English and he has a 780
In SAT reading/writing.

What specifically are you worried about? Because he received the email? It doesn’t seem to be at all related to an admissions decision, so there is nothing to worry about.

The email specifically states: “Please note this is not an offer of admission and does not have any implications on an admission decision”

You will let us know by Friday if this is in any way related, right?

I work in marketing and send emails to very large lists of recipients (100k++) regularly. There are always bouncebacks for whatever reason - server issues, spam filters, etc. I would not read anything into receiving/not receiving.

Y’all, I see the notifications on the thread and my heart leaps thinking maybe admissions have started, and it’s always about that one email!

I understood that you are worried if your son won’t be a regent because he got email.
