Anyways, the AOs have a meeting with the entire admissions team every Wednesday and Friday, so if someone can contact the virtual desk (on Zoom) again next Wednesday to see how things are going, that’d be nice.
yea that’s what i was thinking, they prob won’t admit that they under admitted but im PRAYINGGGG they did a whole lot so they rely on the waitlist
could u send the tiktok u saw
ohh i thought u saw another video saying that lol
I am kinda surprised that they extended the deadline to submit SIR though. Would that even have a big effect on enrollment? I would assume that the extension probably doesn’t apply to 90%+ of accepted applicants. Also, if Berkeley is the only school that extended the deadline, then doesn’t it mean that if a person still haven’t accepted their offer, they’re 99% not coming? If they want Berkeley, they would’ve committed already. If they don’t want Berkeley, it’s already too late to commit to any other college.
I am also skeptical about the idea that in-state/oos/intl does not matter. They might be saying that simply to avoid troubles (in case someone uses those words against them).
The reason given for the extension of the SIR was mainly for SoCal students who were affected during the wildfires and for students with economic instability amidst the current political period. But yeah, I assume that the extended deadlines is not for a lot of people.
I asked about the differences in-state/oos/international for one of my friends and basically the AO said that in-state does have preference simply because the state has a minimum threshold that all UCs need to meet. I specifically asked if they are more inclined to pick OOS/International students because of the systemwide budget cuts but the AO said that’s not how waitlists work.
Thanks a lot Sriram2 for bringing a clear picture.
oh yeah thank you so much Sriram2 for helping us out!!
Seems like they should have the final list as on May 1. Why do they take into the end of May?
For appeals, did anyone receive email after submission ? The portal doesn’t show appeal status like the other UCs.
I received an email after I submitted it. There’s a link I have bookmarked that takes me to the appeal submission page, but I’m not sure how I got it. Any updates should appear on your regular portal/status page though.
ucsd had a wave yesterday, i’m hoping berkeley is going to come out soon since all the uc schools have extended their sir too but they all have started pulling from the waitlist already
and i think this question might’ve alr been answered, but i just want to make sure, even for the colleges that claim to not take major into consideration, for waitlist, will they be looking at major and taking it into consideration as to whether or not they should accept someone?
I’m not sure since I didn’t ask this question. If someone can go on a call with the AO’s this Wednesday (the virtual front desk on Zoom) to double check again what’s up with the waitlists, that’d be nice. Or if no one wants to do it, I’ll do it again; just give me questions you want to clarify and I’ll try to get some answers.
Thank you so much. I just want more clarification about when they are planning to release, even though you seemed to cover the matter really well last time. Also, I was wondering if they gave any more information about how many people they are planning to take off the waitlist. I feel like you already asked those questions though, but maybe they could give some more clarification because they have likely heard back from some of the people with extended SIR.
i’ll try to call them to but just in case if i can’t, i just want someone to ask when exactly they think the waitlists would be coming out, like mid may late may, etc. and if the colleges that explicitly say that they don’t look at major (like cnr for example) look at major when admitting students from the waitlist. thank you so much Sriram2 for helping us out, it’s been incredibly helpful and i appreciate it a ton!
Hey guys I have a question about Berkeley’s waitlist. Since I was accepted in a really prestigious research internship and would certainly add a lot to my application, is there absolutely no way or chance that they would accept an update like this, and if there is a chance, how can I contact them since I cant find a single email online. I am intl btw.
Thanks a lot for your response in advance!
Thank you Sriram2 for all your help. Will they able to give any numbers of waiting lists based on department? For example, CNR or Chemistry?
No, UC Berkeley will not accept updates from waitlisted students. All you can do is opt into the waitlist and move on.
