UC Berkeley Class of 2029 Waitlist and Appeal Discussion

If anyone does end up either calling them or doing the virtual helpdesk on Wednesday, could you please ask them for the Industrial Engineering & Operations Major (IEOR)? Or in general about the Engineering majors and whether there will be movement?

Can anyone please ask for whether there will be movement for international EECS/CS at all? I really want to call and ask but I am in Canada and I can’t call a US number.

Is anyone planning on calling today?

Just did, the person on the phone said that they don’t have a timeline yet and also said no one’s been taken off. Did also seem a touch clueless so not too sure with those answers.

has anyone else called?

They said they gonna have meetings on Wednesday and Friday. Might be better to save the call for the 14th.

ahh okok, i really hope the waitlist starts to move soon the anticipation is actually awful :sob::sob::sob::sob::sob:

Hopefully we’ll have a definitive answer when someone calls the AOs through Zoom on Wednesday.

Some more information I got via contacting the Office of Undergraduate Admissions via email:

ā€œThe waitlist depends on available space within each major. Students who are offered admission after the waitlist will get the opportunity to receive housing as a first-year student.ā€

Those who are asking if the waitlist depends on your major, according to this response, it seems like it does.

What if I applied undeclared?

All students that apply to the College of Letters and Sciences are Undeclared (exception are the high demand majors) so even though students are admitted into a L&S major, they still have to take the required courses to declare the major. Applying as Undeclared will have no impact on your chances of getting off the waitlist.

Can anyone call and check tonight? Something might’ve been decided by now. I’m international and it starts too late for me to go.

I’ll be busy the whole day today so if someone else can do it that’d be nice. I’ve also contact the office of admissions too much so I don’t want to do it again. However, if no one else does it before they close at 4pm PT, I’ll try to call them again around 3:30pm PT.

I’ll join their virtual front desk on zoom at like 3:30PT.

If any of you do call, please ask if there’ll be any movement for international waitlists in EECS, thanks.

Managed to squeak in a call before I went to sleep. But the person I got wasn’t too chatty. Did confirm that it hasn’t started yet though but nothing else.

Whoever calls might also want to repeat some questions e.g.

  1. When they’ll start?

  2. Why they haven’t started yet, and

  3. Forecasts for this year by major + chances for instate, OOS and International.

I think I was directed to a student (judging by her zoom profile picture). She told me that the waitlist movement began already (including Internationals), and she isn’t able to provide any specifics about International/in-state/OOS nor any majors. Our entire interaction lasted for around 15 seconds.

So we got some people claiming they got off (on tiktok/reddit), some people claiming that admissions office said that they have not let anyone off, and some people saying the office they have gotten off? Might as well call it quits lol. Berkeley waitlist is cooked

Yeah I also joined the call just now and I was assigned to a student instead of an actual AO. The student said they can’t provide any information regarding the waitlist (not even if it has begun moving yet). Unless you talk to an actual AO (which I was able to do the last time), I don’t think you’ll get an answer.

i think we will probably just start to see a huge wave of waitlist movement at around may 19th. cause the sir is due the 15th, which is a thursday, and then that leaves them the time to see who they need to pull from the waitlist on friday and then monday we might see some significant movement. i still don’t rlly believe that anyone has gotten off yet tho
