The “expect an official update in the coming weeks” sounds promising and misleading… hahaha. If we don’t hear back until the 27th, I think we’ll be able to conclude that no one will be taken off the waitlist (maybe one or two throughout July at max)

Out of curiosity, I imagine most of us are waitlisted for college of letters and sciences, right?

Berkeley seems to have a good read on their required numbers, except maybe in 2023, that’s why their waitlist movement is smaller.
My son is in CNR too. But we are now kind of moving on from UCB. Good luck!
And bear in mind that in 2023, the year in which Berkeley saw a lot of waitlist acceptances, that was the year in which the campus enrollment was supposedly going to be frozen at 2021 levels, causing the UC Berkeley admissions office to believe that class enrollment would be reduced by 3,000 slots between freshmen and transfers. I can’t remember what helped resolve the issue, but it was only because the enrollment freeze was removed that Berkeley was able to use its waitlist heavily that year.

I joined the virtual front desk and actually got some “news” (and not those vague answers like “all students will hear back by august first”). Well, they confirmed that only a few students (close to last year’s number) will be accepted off the waitlist, and the main college with acceptances will be Letters & Science. I asked for a prediction of when we might hear back if we were accepted or not, but they said only the board knows that (but I believe the acceptances might come out in the next few days, maybe until june 20th).
Also, I asked if the changing policies for visas and general context right now could affect admissions for international students, and they said it wouldn’t impact it.
Well, so nothing actually really “new”, but there will be a few acceptances… so hope shouldn’t be all lost!!! But yeah, lets focus and be happy for what we already have, and if you’re one of the lucky ones… well, congrats! (and pls let us know) hahahah

I might try to join again later to see if I can get any other info, or if I have any other interesting question that might add to what we already know. But it would be nice if you guys could join and see what you can get so we can share all multiple perspectives/answers
