Yes, there is very slim chance but wait for official updates.
Ngl this is not a healthy mindset. Even if the optimistic case of them accepting 20 ppl happens, getting in is basically like winning a lottery.
Yes, UC admission is winning a lottery.
if we donât see anything tmrw or even a small update about waitlists imma crash out⊠itâs literally going to be mid June lol⊠i dont understand the point of keeping thousands on a waitlist for so long if they know that there are only handful of plausible candidates that theyâll actually enroll⊠either send a rejection email to the rest of us or give some sort of update today.
i know itâs basically over, but my mind keeps coming back since itâs not an official rejection yet. super bummed out by all this waiting.
I donât know about that⊠like, Iâm extremely happy with my college right now, but giving up on something that we all worked so hard for is not my type of mindset. I know I might not (and probably wonât) be accepted, but clinging to that last bit of hope is what I got for the moment. Also, being rejected is not going to destroy me, is just another ânoâ that Iâll receive, so⊠lol
I think this type of mindset - hopeful, optimistic, and a bit delusional - is okay too, just donât let yourself be deeply impacted if it doesnât work out. I mean, do and embrace what works for you⊠this is my type of mindset hahaha
Many got off Columbiaâs waitlist today, including some of my friends⊠what is Berkeley doing!!! A lot of colleges have already started processes of rooming, etc⊠and other non-refundable payments⊠urghhh
Yes, I saw in a parent group too. Many kids got offer from Columbiaâs waitlist, today.
But to be fair, what happens with other colleges doesnât have anything to do with Berkeley. We might just be unlucky this year because they overenrolled. I wouldnât blame Berkeley for it, to be honest, because they usually donât admit a lot from the waitlist anyway, and their waitlist is normally seen as a soft rejection. Yes, TCP said that Berkeley underadmitted, but that is far from any official release from Berkeley, and we shouldnât have trusted that.
Donât think the problem for most of us is actually getting off the waitlist but rather the lack of updates and communication that other schools have been giving, despite high yield and over enrollment. I understand none of us are entitled to be taken off the waitlist but waiting for months without any clear information is painful. Hell, Iâd take a rejection right now, I just want that official mail to be sent so I donât have to think about this anymore.
There goes yet another Friday without any communication.
I agree that UCB may have a higher yield rate this year and they have reached their total enrollment numbers. But this is from the overall perspective, I still donât believe for each major they have met the enrollment goal: some are over-enrolled but some are short. I guess as long as the total freshman enrollment numbers are met, AO probably doesnât care if some majors are short of enrollment.
ughhh can they just say smth now and let all this stress go away for not just us, but also the people that have to answer our calls and questions in the zoom meetings
I just heard back from the UC Berkeley Admissions Office after reaching out through their contact form.
They mentioned that waitlist decisions have not been released yet, but all students will receive a final response by August 1st. However, they also noted that only a limited number of waitlist offers are expected to be extended, so they strongly encourage students to pursue other college options in the meantime.
I think this is the default response everyone gets when contacting the AOs
Guys, my counselor received an answer from UCB, but itâs really nothing newâŠ
What they responded:
Dear Cibele,
Greetings from UC Berkeley!
I am responding to your email, as Jennie is not available at the moment.
Thank you for your email regarding (my name) waitlisted application to UC Berkeley undergraduate admission. Please note that after opting into the waitlist, the office of undergraduate admission will notify waitlisted students whether a space is available for them in May or June, but the list may be held through summer.
However, students are encouraged to consider other admissions offers while on UCB waitlist.
may alr passed with no news what are they talking about
idk if im right but i remember someone saying that berkeley waitlist updates happened every wed last year so maybe we might see something this coming wednesday??
lets hope!!
halfway june with not a single email
Nah waitlist roll out on Friday usually. They have meetings on Wed and Fri. That said, youâre not getting anything new because they already moved on to transfer waitlist. Itâs over by this point.
