UC Berkeley Fall 2020: Transfer Waitlist Thread

No glitches. I submitted my final term grades on Monday; hopefully, that didn’t have an effect on my decision.

In the Berkeley help chat, I was told I could input grades when the semester ends. I would assume it shows an update in their system. They also should have logs that show every single time you updated the waitlist form.

Whaat?! That is crazy man. I’m like 99% sure they do account for you working and the circumstances that happen so I’m in disbelief since that should be in your favor not working against you under a holistic view. It is insane to me since imo I am not close to what you described but here we all are under the same waitlist. I always thought that If you explained the bad grades that were 2+ years ago and showed consistency then it wouldn’t be accounted against you especially since you were 14??

What was odd is 2 weeks before decisions came out Berkeley AND UCLA emailed me saying please send us the courses you took during high school. Which were already included in the app and explained extensively in the additional comments almost as if they did not read the app in its entirety? TBH for transfers, I feel like they would rather have the kid with the 4.0 and all classes done over someone like me.

I just lost all hope on getting in. I think I just found the PDF files that tell you how many people they are expecting to accept from the waitlist and I have a feeling the 2 people we heard got in yesterday are probably the only ones were going to hear about

But i don’t hear anything. Also, I join their transfer program and took summer session but they dont help sigh…

where did you find these PDF files?

where is the live chat? can someone send me the link

https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/news-events/ets/

Go there and click to download the files
Then click on the first files & then click on the 3rd pdf. Then go to the slide 20/21

Because they overadmitted students last year. But this years few students from my college got in directly

Damn it is over.

Okay I was filled with such a large surge of anxious adrenaline-fueled survival instinct that I literally made an account after lurking on this site for 2 years just to say that I checked the slide mentioned in the pdf files and compared the numbers to the fall 2019 transfer list and realized they’re the same. Therefore, this is an old transfer statistic and is not reflective of current conditions.

I’m really crossing my fingers and hoping that it’s being released by major and that it is a slow filter followed by a huge drop. Some admitted friends of mine at Berkeley mentioned that it seems a lot of people dropped their Berkeley admittance for LA. Hold on guys!

Just for stats purposes,

GPA: 3.78 current, 3.6 something when applied.
Major: Legal Studies
Waitlisted

ANYWAYS if someone could post some good news that would be amazinggggggggggg <3

@WhalesDeluxe what is the name of the PDF? i didnt see anything about enrollment numbers

@djbassbaby it’s under ETS 2020 Presentation PDFS, then click Campus Panel Session IOPBIMSBFinal.pdf, then slide 20. But as I mentioned before this appears to be fall 2019 admits rather than current fall 2020.

@bearorzot I REALLY hope you’re right & we still have a chance. Asking because of your name, so are you between Berkeley and UCI?

Hello, I have been checking up on this thread daily. But I just want to comment and say that on the live chat today currently happening a student asked about the first wave of transfer students getting accepted due to some students posting about their admission on here or reddit. And the rep said, “those Transfer students that opted into the waitlist. Decisions have not gone out.” And another rep said “We have groups and single students who receive their decisions all throughout the month.” I just wanted to share that, and yes although a couple students did get accepted yesterday that we know of, does not mean that it is the end for all of us. Keep your heads up! Wish us all the best.

@WhalesDeluxe Cheers I sure hope I am too!!! (If I can trust the stat alignment then it looks good for us) : https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major (check UCB for yourself and see how it looks)

Yep! I got into Irvine for criminal justice which is fine and all but I really prefer the legal studies program at Berkeley ;-;

Plus dream school and everything lol.

@bearorzot yeah this was about fall 2019. I was waitlisted and rejected last year. met with admissions and was explicitly told nobody was taken off the waitlist last year due to overenrollment. this has nothing to do with 2020.

@itsbeentuff thank you for the positive news… this is free serotonin

@bearorzot yeah me too! At UCI I would major in Criminology, Law & Society. At Berkeley I chose Philosophy. I didn’t know they had legal studies until about a month ago. Are you planning on going to law school after ?
