I get this, but on the other hand, they have a few options:

  1. don’t announce a date at all, just say something like “mid-March” or “by April 1”. Many schools take this route, and this annoys people too. Why can’t they just tell us when? Why the mystery? Should we just be checking in every day?

  2. announce a date, but then run it right up to the deadline, chasing down readers for their final evaluations, compiling results, and entering them and double checking it all before results go out. rushing these things can’t be a good idea for anyone.

  3. what they appear to do, which is announce a conservative date late in March, then get the work done with time to spare, so they don’t risk going past the announced date. That would also be annoying!

So, there’s really no perfect solution to this. I think it’s fair for them to set a target date, then get the work done a bit early, then we all just have to wait a little.

I see the same page. Although I did sign up for a summer course. One time when signing in, I saw forbidden.

That always pick IVY day. They may have known who they want for weeks. They release on same days as the IVYs and have for years. It’s not a random date and it makes sense that they would have already entered results but just wait until IVY day to release them.

I read that as: “little brother of the son who is applying to UC Berkeley” (most likely also, “younger son”).
