This is the official discussion thread for University of Wisconsin Class of 2030 RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.
Good morning, we were told by a friend that we need to complete STARS for UW-Madison. The friend is a college counselor so we’re taking her at her word, but don’t know what STARS is and don’t see it referenced anywhere in the UW-Madison application requirements.
Thanks for any help or insight!
Thanks @Anthonydisdain already did that. Found this (at NYU’s site
):
“All students applying for first-year admission from a high school anywhere in the world, or those who were home-schooled and followed a traditional U.S. educational curriculum, will be required to provide the Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS). The STARS is free and should take roughly an hour to complete if you have a copy of your high school transcript available.”
Our D has already sent her official transcript and SAT to UW-Madison. Just trying to confirm whether she needs to do something more with STARS (and assuming the above is what it is!)
Does anyone know when UW-Madison will release RD decisions? My son was deferred from EA to RD. He has submitted LOCI and semester report from his senior year. We are anxiously waiting for the result.
Thanks.
Like EA, they just give out a “by March 31” date. Last year, my friends son heard back about his deferral around March 20th.
I saw someone posted some past year release dates: 3/25/22 (Friday) - after spring break; 03/24/23 (Friday) - after spring break; 03/21/24 (Thursday) - during spring break; 03/19/25 (Wed) - just before spring break. This year’s spring break is 3/28 - 4/5.
Are we still looking for 89 apps? The portal astrology from EA?
what is the 89 app?
I would have rolled my eyes about this, but it actually turned out to be an accurate “tell” during the EA round and apparently in years past….
When you go to my.wisc.edu, scroll down, press the + button. If it shows 89 apps and one of them is “Terra Dotta,” that has been the so-called “tell” that you’ve been admitted.
Yes, Terra Dotta is seemingly for int’l applications but that’s apparently irrelevant. Also, at least for us, the Terra Dotta app and the bump up to 89 total apps happened within 24 hours of the release.
This should be taken as anecdotal as I’m not sure correlation is 100%. That said, my happy Badger-to-be did indeed have these changes in his portal.
This is so random. What are the normal # of apps you should see?
My portal showed 88 until Tuesday when it dropped to 86. Today it dropped to 83. If others are seeing the changes, it could be an indicator that decisions will be out next week.
mine is at 86 and its my dream school what does this mean im freaking out i have a 4.35 weighted im so nervous.
I don’t think anyone can give you a real answer other than to wait. Were you EA deferred to RD from the start?
I was deffered EA waiting for RD now.
Seems like next week. There was a false alarm earlier tonight but it seems that they released only responses to people to had appealed their earlier rejections. You can go the EA thread to follow the whole tile count movement and “terra dotta” supposed tell, but even that was just in the 24 hours prior to release.
For the RD applicants, how many entries/apps are you currently showing in your portal. I have 86.
Mine also recently dropped to 86, and it is my dream school!! freaking out as lower APPS seem not to be good. I do not know though
Mine dropped from 88 to 86 last week and scared for what that means, altough it can mean nothing
Update: mine went to 83. Anyone know what this means???
