You mean if you click the link here it says access denied? or you clicking a link in the portal?

Someone was saying they were waitlisted and the could see the forbidden link a day or so before they were acepted, I think.

To all the portal astrology haters - It’s a wonderful timepass for those (especially parents) wanting to “do something”. I had a lot of fun during S22’s cycle and last year’s was even more fun to watch people figure out ways to get an early answer. So long as its not the student engaging in it, and people don’t get let the discussions veer in a toxic direction it’s a fun distraction.

The interesting thing with Cal is that every year there is always a tell, but it varies year to year. I say, have fun!

Agree :100: Obviously it helps if the end result is a good one. But who says you have to stick to the dates on the UCB emails? If they’re going to let it leak, then feel free to investigate. Up to you.

This is Berkeley. Rules are broken all the time.

what does access denied mean?>

I cant remember last year exactly when the “tells” started showing up. Do you remember @ucscuuw ? I remember we were out of town for a week leading up to decisions. I can say the first time I noticed differentiating factors was Sunday the 26th of March, with a Thursday March 30th decision release date. So 5-6 days before.

It’s too early for astrology at Berkeley, but I presume signs have started showing up at UCSD and UCLA given a March 15th release date.

what is it for UCSD & UCLA?

Totally agree! I had a lot of fun during D21’s application cycle. We successfully predicted outcomes from Berkeley, UCLA, NYU and Vanderbilt. It was definitely a fun time for me, helped to take minds off the agonizing waiting.

How were you able to predict outcomes for LA - curious to try it out with D24 as decisions are this week.

Sorry, I don’t remember now. I do remember NYU was the housing portal, and Vanderbilt was the Admitted Student event.

About 60% of College Confidential is portal astrology anyway. At least in the time between applications and results, it’s mostly finding out when you’ll find out and refining your predictions.

I agree that it is great for parents. I thought it was fun last year. But I didn’t say anything to S23 at that time, because I didn’t want him to either worry, or get his hopes up too much.

I think in the 2022 cycle, we started noticing around 03/20 just a few days or so before the decision release. That was at the point where it was close enough to decision release that the data was linked to the admission events registration.

So true, same here … never mentioned anything to my kid either.

This is the right approach although in my case I defnitely told my son because I was unnaturally confident about my theory. He was trying to downplay it to me but afterwards acknowledged that he thought my rationale was solid. Obviously, the whole thing could have backfired and that’s why its best to not share anything with the kids.

Sorry, the MAP Portal.

Where do you see the link in the portal? Our portal hasn’t changed at all.

I think it’s too early to mean anything.
