UC Berkeley requested Letters of Rec?

Hi, I have letters of recommendation on Naviance, but how do I send them to Berkley?
I did get a request.
gpa :3.83 weighted
unweighted is anywhere from 3.65-3.79
sat: 2060 combined, 2050 highest 540 MA 720 CR 790 WR
3 4
650 History

It would be appreciated if I get some feedback on what to do! Thank you in advance

Making this post because I just got an email from Berkeley saying that they’ll look forward to reading my app or whatever, which means no LoR request for me ripppp

Quick stats are uc uw 3.75 w 4.4 2230 sat one sitting 33 act 740 physics 750 bio e 760 math 2

Just got my email from Berkeley too

requested
OOS
3.73UW - don’t know my UC GPA
2060 One Sitting

no letter of rec for me

uc uw 4.00, w capped 4.27, w uncapped 4.56 2310 sat 800 math ii/physics
in state, eecs

LOR requested
Out of state, economics major
ACT: 34 C
UW GPA: 4.0, don’t know what the UC W GPA would be, but on my transcript it says 4.67.

.

I just logged onto the MAP@Berkeley Application Portal and it said

“Your application has been received and is currently under review. Decisions will be available on or before March 24, 2016.”

LOR requested
Out of state, physics major
SAT: 2310 one sitting
UW GPA: ~3.9 probably?
800s on the Math II and Physics SAT IIs, 780 on Chemistry

This is all pretty wild? I didn’t realize they’d only sent the requests out to ~20% of the pool, that’s a little dicey.

LOR requested 12/10/15
OOS, Political Science Major
ACT: 29 C, 30 C super-scored
UC GPA: ~4.12
Many ECs/leadership positions, 200+ community service hours, decent essays
App submitted 11/30 (procrastination nation)

A friend of mine also applied to Berkeley, but he went for EECS. He did not receive a request, although his test scores are higher than mine. I was extremely surprised when I saw the email in my inbox.

Don’t lose courage if you haven’t received one yet. I wasn’t really planning on getting one either, but here I am!

Hi everyone. Question for all of you regarding the Berkeley portal. My D just received an email tonight giving her the link for the portal (application was filed 11/26). It says the date of her SAT was 12/1/14 (self-reported) and 12/6/14 (official). She said the application only allowed you to put in a month and year, not the day, when reporting tests. I thought it funny that there was a discrepancy in the dates. Anyone else notice something similar?

Requested too like 3 weeks ago. Submitted Nov. 15
Major: L&S Asian Studies
Low UC gpa like 3.9 sigh
34 ACT
Mediocre EC’s

While many people from my school got a request (very smart school haha), many smart people did not as well. When I called them they said they do glance over the app before making a decision to ask for a rec.

@Smilla The same thing happened to me. I don’t think it’s a big deal.

Submitted application December 1- LOR Requested
Out of state
Major: Unspecified Letters & Sciences

Really low everything in comparison to everyone else’s
Single sitting SAT- 1800, retook in December
3.9 weighted GPA- not sure what it converts to
2 AP(3, 2) and 1 IB(6) test so far, 3 AP and 2 IB this year
Strong extracurriculars- UN involvement, given speeches/co-hosted various TED events, founder of school’s model congress(won gavels in <1 year of establishment), 300+ hours volunteer work, participate in national/international tennis tournaments but not recruited
Will submit strong LOR- helped increase school’s stock portfolio by 4.84% in 6 months

I’m not sure if it makes a difference but I am the only person I know of in my school within the last 10 or so years to have applied to any UC. I know my grades are inferior compared to everyone else’s, I am hoping that the fact that they asked me for recommendation letters does mean something. However, I’m not counting on it. Good luck to everyone else!

fwiw I applied on Nov 9 and received a request on Nov 18, so I guess UC does send LORs out in November too

OOS/TX
Major: pre-business
UW GPA: 3.95 (unsure about UC, 4.52 weighted, top 1%)
SAT: 2290 (2310 superscored), 800 Math II, 780 US History, 770 Chinese
ACT: 35
Extracurriculars/AP: All pretty good I’d say haha. volunteer, leadership, dance, all that jazz

I know people with lower GPAs/scores who got recs and people with better scores/GPAs who didn’t, so this does seem a little random.

Does anybody know if this is in fact a good or bad thing to get requested for a letter of rec?

Submitted application 11/24 Received request
Major: Pathogenesis & Immunology
UW GPA: 3.88 UC GPA: 4.2 Fully weighted: 4.4

Top 9% (could be higher, school unranked, but UC tells me I’m in ELC)
ACT: 33
SAT II: Math II- 760 Chemistry- 710
Have taken 5 APs, mostly scores of 4s
Extracurriculars: Decked out and pretty strong

Is it really true that most likely you only get accepted into either UCB/UCLA if you apply to both? UCLA is my first choice man…

@vi0linmonster While there is no way to definitively prove that one is only accepted to either UCLA or UC Berkeley, that seems to be the general trend.

HOWEVER, it could depend greatly on whether or not you are in-state or out of state. OOS students are placed at a much higher standard.

ALSO, I live in CA, and know a large number of people who have gotten into both. So, unless your stats are amazing, which would of course warrant an acceptance from both schools, then sure, you might be able to make that assumption. It is important to remember, however, that the schools are quite different, so it would make sense that they look for different things.

Requested
GPA: 4.29
SAT: 2190
Strong EC’s
Undeclared

@Expedited did you check the portal? I just got a request tonight and it didn’t say in the email I got, but when I logged into the portal I saw it said “awaiting” for LOR

Requested tonight around 5 pm. Submitted UC App Nov. 10 so I’m really surprised I got the request so late.
Major: Bio
UC GPA 4.7, unweighted 4.0
strong ECs, also authored a published research paper
SAT M/R/W: 770/730/790
SAT II Math: 800, Chem: 750
public school
URM

@sarcros12 Thanks for the suggestion man, I’ll keep an eye out. Still haven’t gotten one though. Guess all I can do now is keep hoping (or get into my ED school, that’d be cool with me too).
