UC Davis Fall 2020: Transfer Thread

I have a question when you sign into the UCD portal and click the “View course credit Summary” is the GPA displayed our “UC GPA”?

Yes

Rejected !!! what…

GPA: 4.0 + internship + EC
Mechanical engineering

But Accepted by UCB

Send Davis your Berkeley acceptance letter & tell them you’ll be making large donations annually to your alma mater after graduation

Send it to Davis in a pink cake box with a fresh cow pattie inside since that is what Davis is surrounded by.

Would anyone happen to know how difficult it is to change housing status? FAFSA is listed as off campus but the new Green at West Village apartments look nice. I wouldn’t mind living on campus if I could secure a studio. Just not sure if a studio would be guaranteed or even if its too late to change my status. Thats assuming coronavirus is under control by fall and living on campus is possible.

I’ll call UCD tomorrow but just wanted to check here in case anyone could help. Stay safe!

Hello all, I applied as a bio major and got in, but will be rescinding my admission Wednesday if I get into UCSB, so there should be one more spot for those of you waitlisted!

Major: Biology
GPA: 3.83
IGETC: completed loooong ago
Honors: hell no
EC: 100s of volunteer hours, worked part-time

Honestly I just think I had strong essays, idk

Hi! I had some concerns regarding the minimum 60 transferrable semester units needed to be eligible to transfer to a UC.
I transferred from a quarter system UC to a semester system CC. I also passed AP Eng lit. that apparently might not count for units because I took an english class at CC.
Therefore, I am not completely sure that I have 60 transferable units because of how confusing all of this is.
But I did get into some UCs. Would being accepted automatically mean that I do have a minimum of 60 transferrable units if I finish my in planned coursework? Would they have rejected me if I did not have enough units, or do they reject you after you finish all your coursework and see you did not complete all 60 units?

Does Santa Barbara have a better biology program than Davis?

Biology is not my major & I don’t know anything about Santa Barbara’s biology program so it’s surprising to hear. I always thought of Davis as the agriculture/ science college.

While Davis is known for it’s bio/premed stuff, I’m choosing SB because of the location/beach. Both are stellar programs from what I know. Also I don’t drive so Isla Vista seems more accessible. I also got into Cal but I think the “vibe” is just not right for me. My friends think I’m crazy, but I wanna go to a school that fits me :slight_smile:

Nope! I never got an email but I got in. Don’t stress out!

I’m not too sure about your first question, but it’d be best to contact the admissions office or an academic counselor!

As for your second question, it’s very possible to cancel an SIR. Although the money is non-refundable. I had a friend who SIR to UCSC and wanted to cancel it and SIR to UCSB instead. I think he had to contact the admissions office of UCSC to cancel his SIR. Also, if you have already SIR to school A and SIR to school B without canceling your SIR to school A, your acceptances MAY be rescinded. I’m not sure if it’s 100% true. But that’s what I’ve been told by a few peers. Good luck!

Don’t freak out about the 60 units just yet. The CSU’s just announced they have lowered the 60 units to 48 units due to coronavirus. Wait to see if the UC’s follow.

With that said, email the admissions office about what you said BUT make your email shorter than what you described here. Less is more. Ask them to look specifically at your transcript and if they are accepting your AP English course or CC English.

Good for you - ALWAYS go with the college that fits yourself. You’ll know it cuz you’ll feel it. It’s hard to describe in words. Lots of people want Cal for the rubber stamp of approval but they don’t realize it’s up to the student to make things happen for them after graduation. The stamp doesn’t do it.

You are absolutely correct - I read it on the college’s website that if you are caught SIR’ing to 2 colleges, both will rescind their offers.

Has anyone received the packet yet?

I think it takes around 3 weeks for them to come

Thanks for confirming!

@kyang1

Not true. Sometimes you need to double SIR if you’re waiting to hear about an issue at one campus. They will always reach out and ask, and you can let them know. They are not that draconian.

All the years I’ve been up here I have never ever seen that happen. They want you to SIR to one place but they don’t ever just cut the rope.

@NonTradtional no biology !!!
