UC Davis vs. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

I saw online that a lot of people constantly compare Cal Poly to UC Davis. I applied to animal science. There are people that argue saying graduates from Cal Poly earn a higher salary than graduates from UC Davis. I’m interested in becoming a veterinarian so I’m most likely going to go to a vet grad school.

If you had to choose one of the school, with the major of animal science, which school will you choose and why?

SLO… because its not a UC which means you wont be charge $10,000 more dollars, every year for 4 years. Haha

seriously though they are both good schools.

Regarding what graduates are doing, you may want to look at career surveys.

[Cal Poly SLO](http://www.careerservices.calpoly.edu/gradsurvey/) has survey results that you can read.

Unfortunately, UC Davis does not appear to have a career survey available in an obvious place.

As far as what to study, it looks like veterinary medicine schools like [UC Davis](http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/studentprograms/subpages/basic_requirements.html) do not require a specific major, but do require a number of courses.

I went to Cal Poly and my son attends UC Davis and I can honestly say they are VERY similar… Town, college, atmosphere, etc… both schools have great animal science programs… I suggest you visit both and go with your gut.
