UC decision dates...

i am sorry coast, but think of it this way, if you get into any of the other 3 schools, who needs SB?

Oh, definately. However, if I can’t get into UCSB, how on earth am I going to get accepted to those other schools?

Wow. A 3.3 wont get you accepted to sb. Thats high.

You might be able to get into SD since Poli Sci isn’t a big major there.

Thats crazy.

well, i got into san diego, twice, once for spring and for fall,

you can get into san diego

la and b, i dont knwo about.

Coast, if you dont’ mind sharing, I wonder why they reject you. Your 3.29 GPA is defintely fine for UCSB.

Are you not able to fulfill the IGETC, or you have any change in your current schedule, or you have too many W, or you have a descending grade chain (high GPA in the beginning to low GPA toward the end), or you miss some major requirement courses, or any relevant factors? If you don’t mind sharing.

Sure Kevin

IGETC is going to be done this semester. My GPA is actually ascending. I had a 1.8 after two semesters.

I do have have a ton of W’s though. I addressed that issue in my essay, but I later found out that UCSB doesn’t take the personal statement into consideration. :frowning:

I am missing alot of the pre-reqs as well, but I’ve also found out that the College of Letters and Science doesn’t factor that in to admissions decisions…

This is really a drag. I’ve already been at my CC for three years. I don’t want to be here anymore.

hmm… thanks for the sharing!
What pre-regs are you missing and for what major? And how many Ws did you receive?

Political Science major. Missing two econ classes and two history classes.

I have about 8 W’s.

How much consideration to they put on w’s really.
i have 19 W’s, and about 7 w’s in transferable courses that i did not repeat. i took a lot of my w’s over but that probably doesnt matter.

Coast, i think the fact that your not done with the igetc is the big thing, they usually want that done by the spring before fall.

(2005)
Applicants: 8,630

Admitted: 5,460 (63%)

Enrolled: 1,343

3.20 mean GPA

“Coast, i think the fact that your not done with the igetc is the big thing, they usually want that done by the spring before fall.”

He’s finishing it this spring. And has half the prereqs done. Thats really weird.

coast, really really sorry to hear that.

I just checked mine and no result man.

I was under the impression that 2.8+ igetc=admission to SB.

Now, i am really confused and a little scared.

Is SB waiting for fresh letters of intents in order to c how many more students they can admitt?

I’m a newbie and lurker to the board. I’m waiting for UCSD as well.
Here’s my stats.
3.35
IGETC
OK EQ’s
Married with 2 kids
Applying as media-computing major.
Ascending GPA…3.91 last semester, 2.33 First semester.
My college counselor thinks I am in, but I am not so sure.

I am sorry coast, I think the fact that you are missing 4 of your 7 prereqs is the reason for your rejection.

<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST;

in my school, for 2004/2005, they had an agreement with SB that required no contract, basiclly ssaying if you do IGETC , 60 UC units, and x courses from x categories, you get in, no agreement needed. you had to maitain a 2.8 gpa.

If you really want into SB i suggest you appeal, because thats kind of weird, relaly weird.

“Married with 2 kids…Ascending GPA…3.91 last semester”

You get alot of clout with these two things, good luck. Perhaps I’ll see you there.

New here, and wanna know what my shot at SD is…
2.4 out of UCR (fell ill and put that in my personal statement)
4.0 so far in CC
cumulative gpa of 3.2 with IGETC completed…

Coast, I am sorry. You should appeal immediately; I think you can get in on appeal. When did you complete your math and English requirements? How many total units?

Some entirely wrong conjecture has again appeared on the board, to clear it up:

1) prereqs have nothing to do with admission to political science at Santa Barbara.

2) MAJOR CHOICE has nothing to do with getting into UCSD.

Coast, you are guaranteed into ucsb if you meet the following reqs: 60 units by the end of the spring, 2.8 gpa, two english courses and one math course completed by the end of the fall (one year before you transfer). oh, and check the box that says ‘ucsb TAA’ on the UC application (not sure if this is really required). Therefore, as long as you satisfy those requirements, i dont think it matters how many W’s you have or how many prereqs you’re missing.

jtsf, it’s ONE math course and TWO English courses.
