I just called UCSB about my admissions rejection. They told me that I was rejected because I wasn’t going to finish my math course “until this coming summer.”

I was like ***? How did they get that idea? Then, after a few minutes of thinking, I remembered that I had called them a month or two ago and asked them if transfer students could finish their math course for IGETC in the summer. Somehow that got translated by the admissions office into me saying that I was going to finish my math requirement for IGETC in the summer of '06.

So now I have to write an appeal. The lady at admissions told me to write an appeal once I have finished my math course/IGETC. The sucky thing about that is that that wont be 'till June. Will that be enough time to get my decisions overturned so I can attend in the fall of '06?

I think the moral of this story is never to call admissions and give your ID number. Who knows that they might miscontrue? Let this be a lesson to the rest of you out there. If you have a question about admissions, ask on this board or read the school’s website. A lot of people on here are knowledgeable about things like that. Hopefully your appeal works Coast.

I don’t remember doing it, but I must have. When I called this morning they said, “On your record, it says that you called and said you wouldn’t be finishing the math requirement until the summer of 2006.”

holy **** that sucks I thought they couldn’t do that stuff unless it was in writing…it’s very strange that they would change your things on phone…
