hey malishka…where do you see the cal grant and federal grant info?

p1nkie, after you log in to the UCSB admissions page, look to the left middle of the page. It should say “>>Unofficial Award Letter”. Click that and on the next page it should say “New Applicant”. Underneath that, click “Unofficial Award Letter”.

yah i see that but mine doesn’t have any cal grant info in the letter… only loans/etc.

I got a call a few minutes ago from a girl asking me to apply for the UCLA alumni scholarships… more good vibes from ucla. It feels nice to have schools coming after me. Pepperdine is laying it on thick too. What a completely different experience from high school.

Aji1234, did you fill out any scholarship information? I know a girl who just got a call from the UCLA alumni scholarships as well. However, this girl has a 3.58 and is a communication major. She can’t possibly be getting in, can she?

Oh… what is your GPA, aiji? And who called you?

This thing has no bearing on admissions- I specifically asked the caller, and from what I was told, the minimum gpa is 3.75. So if your friend got a call, perhaps they are short on qualified applicants (I can’t believe this is true). Otherwise, I don’t know what she got the call for.

I gotta 4.0 gpa

Like a month ago, a UCLA representative who came to visit my community college also suggested me to apply for it.

wow, you are shoe in… for UCLA
great news!

so you have to apply for this scholarship in order to be considered for it? Should I be worried if I didn’t get a call…(i didn’t apply for any scholarships)

But then again, I also asked the regents scholarship if it was a sign of asmissions decisions- they said that they “couldn’t say that.” But, with a 3.5 i dunnno about your friend, good for her if she got invited to apply

Alumni scholarships are very different from regents. Just as AJ said, the alumni one (whether they call or not) has no bearing on whether you will get in or not.

Is anybody hearing anything from Berkeley? Regents scholarships or anything of the like? I know they have them and that you get considered based on your application since they have done away with the interview. But honestly, its so secretive and unlike UCLA.

I don’t know if I will apply for this scholarship until I hear from Haas, I don’t feel like writing 3 new, 500 word essays if I am going to go to Cal. We should hear from berk on the 1st and this app isn’t due til the 5th… so if I get into la and rejected from cal, then I’ll fill it out.

i havent heard anyone say anything about berkeley period… which IS weird.

Anyhow with all your scholarship calls and 4.0s i think i stand no chance in ucla or berkeley for that matter.

I have scanned through the process and it requires some work like getting the recommendation letters, writting your essays and also filling in your extra activities, volunteer according to their paper format which might take some time… and since i’m very busy for this semester especially with the course in differential equation, i’m not applying that scholarship.

I have most of that stuff done from other applications and scholarships- still, I think I will put this one off for a bit. I’m getting a bit of application burn out. Is it just me or does it seem like the application and or waiting process is never ending? I foresee that next year as the sole year of reprieve from these types of activities… senior year will once again be riddled with apps and outside work.

guys i really need your help…im SO SO confused on the financial aid stuff…all i have is a subsidized loan, work study and universtiy grant…where is hte cal grant and federal stuff??

Austin, I’ve heard that getting into Haas involves two rounds of admissions decisions (i.e. they notify you that you’re a finalist for Haas and they pick the .08 students from the overall applicant pool from the pool of finalists). Won’t you find out whether or not you actually get in a little while after 05/01/2006?

aij, I see… you seem so busy huh… how many applications have you filled out so far?

Eschatos, Haas is for business?

p1nkie, I think it depends on the schools that offer those aids, the best way is to contact their financial aid offcies to see if anything goes wrong or may be missing documents or so on… call them and see!

Daniel, I believe they did away with the system you mentioned this year. They used to send a supplamentary application in february to 200 qualified applicants from which they accepted 90. Now, they send a secondary app to everyone, and just disreguard the ones from students who do not meet requirements. I guess it gives kids who would not have received the supplamantal app hope and makes the admission people have an easier life. I plan on finding out on the first like everyone else… I hope :)

kevin… you seem angry in your post?
have you filled out a bunch?

No, i don’t see your logic about why you think I seemed angry in my previous post.

“Have you filled out a bunch [of applications]”
Yeah, tiring! I have applied to 10 universities and more than 5 scholarships so far… How about you?
