So I guess it’s safe to assume that we don’t want to hear from UCI today. Lol.
Hey everyone, i’ve been reading this thread since the beginning and have finally decided to write in it, as I too am STILL waiting for UCI to give me a decision, the stress is unreal.
Oh and also if I leave a profile of my credentials, can anyone here chance me?
Lol, welcome @onmyway21 . I haven’t been able to sleep peacefully since they first started releasing their decisions. This process is taking a toll on me.
Well hey you got in to UCLA so I wouldn’t be to concerned if things go awry with UCI for you lol.
@onmyway21 I’ll be happy to go shall i be rejected, but uci is the place for me. How about you, do you have any backups?
@DPatt so far i have some east coast schools (as im oos, kinda), and i have Azusa Pacific, UCR, and Cal Lutheran, which would probably be my safety.
@DPattt Why is UCI the place for you versus UCLA?
@onmyway21 I was also considering UCR; it’s actually a great school.
@ohrly123 I just prefer the campus environment to that of ucla. I am definitely grateful for my ucla acceptance though.
Anyone get rejected so far?
I have the same question as @onmyway21 Could you guys chance me if I leave my stats here?
@onmyway21 @Yvask95 Sure, if you guys would like, but wont it just cause increased stress for you guys? Lol
@DPattt Lol yeah. But I just wanna hear what other people think
American citizen studying in Bangladesh. I have given my O and A levels under the British EDEXCEL system and the SAT 4 times .-.
Yup, 4 times. And still not over 2000. But anyway my Stats:
O Levels:
Maths, Pure Mathematics and English Language- A*
Physics and Accounting- A
Bengali- B
ICT- C
estimated gpa-3.57
A Levels:
Maths and Pure Mathematics- A
Physics- C
estimated gpa-4.33
Please note: Under my system, we are not given GPA’s. I’m just assuming thats what it is based on the normal grading system. A levels are equivalent to some first year courses at University.
SAT: 1650, 1760, 1850, 1870
1870- Maths 700, Reading 530, Writing 640(Essay 8)
super score of 1920- Maths 700, Reading 580, Writing 640(Essay 8)
I know. I’m embarrassed about doing poorly so many times, especially given the fact that English is my first language and am more than proficient in the language.
EC’s:
Music- Drummer in a band 3.5 years, Vocalist in a band 1 year.
Sports- Played football in and out of school, golf and tennis in a local club. All for 4+ years. No school football team. Received a runner up award for a tournament in tennis. But I mostly played these sports for fun and will continue to do so.
I’m confident in my entire application except for my SAT. I’ve been rejected to UW Seattle, a University people on CC told me was a Match-High Match… So I don’t know at this point.
Rejected: UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, expecting a rejection from UCB, UW Seattle and GeorgiaTech(just to see what would happen .-.)
Accepted: UBC Okanagan, I applied to the wrong department in Vancouver by mistake and they accepted me to Okanagan within 4 days, UMass Amherst with Chancellors Award of 8k USD.
Waiting: UCI and Purdue University
Sooooooooooooo yeah. You can understand why I don’t care at this point if I get even more stressed. I’m stressed out to the max. Unless I get rejected from UCI. In which case I’ll just break down .-.
I have been watching this thread from the very beginning and just made an account to post in here! I have applied to UCLA, UCSD and UCI. Got rejected in both LA and SD and still waiting on UCI’s decision. I haven’t been waitlisted or given any decision yet!
However, I did receive a supplementary questionnaire I think It has to do with my low scores I submitted it with compelling information and I think the essays were pretty good. I also was in campus during the summer time and got to know the university in a 14-days long program, during my stay I also received a recommendation letter from one of the university’s top directors and was described as an “Elite student”. I have a huge amount of ECs too, from student government, to debate club, to the English club, to the Media club, and so on. I also have a large amount of volunteering hours and services which gives back to the community and I spoke about them in my essays. I was offered a position as a director in a social enterprise as well and I was heavily involved in social life.
THEN AGAIN! No response from UCI, my friend who applied with me got her acceptance on Thursday evening and I’m so happy for her but I also want to hear my decision soon
P.S.: I am an international student, outside of the US.
@Yvask95
-I’m not familiar with your grading system, but your projected GPAs seem pretty solid.
-Don’t worry about your SATs, yours aren’t bad and uci seems to be almost completely disregarding them this year.
-Decent ec’s in my opinion
-Depending on your major, id say you were a match/high match (using that gumbymom lady’s scale)Good luck
@DPattt I applied for Computer Science as my primary choice, and Software Engineering as my second choice. Thanks for the input
I’m still open for more opinions
@Yvask95 I am not familiar with the A levels system, but given that your GPA 4+ you’re a match.
This is the freshman admission profile for the last year to give you an idea about the admits profiles: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/files/freshman-profiles/freshman_profile_irvine.pdf
@DPattt Do you know if decisions are made on the weekends?
Ok I’ll make this as short as possible:
HS senior, Completed 2 yrs of CA high school, moved oos completing final 2 yrs
SAT superscore- 1680
ACT- 21
SAT II- 560 World hist
(Yes I know my scores suck)
GPA: 3.8
Only received 2 C’s up to today in HS (9th and 11th), As and Bs otherwise
ECs- all HS levels of soccer, track and field, got awards for both
3 positions of leadership
1 job
My essays were pretty good.
@mattinfinity rejections went out over this weekend last year, so we may see some this year.
@onmyway21 I dont know your major, but ive seen people with lower stats than you get accepted on this thread so, i’d say you have a solid chance.
