***UC Irvine Class of 2019 Admissions Results/Stats Discussion***

@sweetpotatoes31 Thanks! I’m hoping that the urban experience will serve me well.

@niki2015 I got into UC Riverside on 1/09/15. I’ve heard a lot about people who have not gotten it yet and do not know of any later date that they sent any acceptances.

I’m applying to UCI next year. What are the majors to avoid applying under and what are the majors that are good to apply under?

@RHSclassof16‌ your major should be a personal choice. there are hundreds of different majors… it just all depends on what YOU want to do. however, some majors are harder to get into than others because they are so impacted (business, computer science, nursing, dance, etc.)

@RHSclassof16‌ It depends on what you want to major in. Business admin is very competitive, nursing admits only 4% i believe, and anything engineering is very competitive. If you’re looking for an “easy” way into uci, id apply under anything in the college of letters and sciences. Be aware that this still is not necessarily an easy route and you will have to compete with many other highly qualified applicants. Also, SAT does not really matter. It seems like UCI only cared about GPA this year, so focus on that.

@santagirl‌ Well I’m thinking about Economics (I’m not sure though I would apply under something else if it is hard to get in) MY UC GPA looks to be a 4.14 the way my grades are this Semester (It could be as high as a 4.23 if I can get my two B’s up to A’s) and I have an 1860 SAT Score from December.) I’m pretty sure I will be ELC. My problem is I have like No EC’s and only like 50 Community Service hours.

@RHSclassof16‌ GPA is the most important thing, from what I’ve seen. I’m not sure how much ECs matter unless if your major requires a supplemental app. If I were you, I would just keep up my grades for this semester. You can try doing something over the summer, if you’re that worried about community service/ECs,… just relax!

I know that the general mindset is that UCI strongly cares about GPA and not as much test scores, but I want to offer hope to those who are like me:

3.55 UW GPA / 3.86 UC GPA
10 APs
34 ACT / 2170 SAT
790, 730, 680 on SAT II
5,5,5,4,3 on AP tests

Admitted to CHP

@niki2015‌ I did, January 6th. :smile:

If I were to go to UCR, would it be difficult to transfer to UCI? I’m thinking about changing my major to Political Science.

I was wondering too. I hear that priority transfers are given to CC and there are transfer guarantees from cc to uc.

Decisions decisions!

Where is everyone? Is it over?

@jer2911 I was just thinking about TAG today as one of my teachers brought up the UC system. What caught my attention was “guarantee”. As long as you meet the requirements, you’ll be admitted (correct me if I’m wrong). I actually thinking about going to a CC in Cali if nothing else works out. Screw Heidelberg…

@itwilbeok Yeah, it’s over now I believe. The leftovers (the ones who haven’t gotten a decision yet) were shot down one by one on March 23, 2015. UCI is a first-class a-hole as they saved their large and final batch of rejections for the last day. It was simply brutal.

@hotairmarooned‌ hey thats my major haha. What major did you apply under?

Yeah, people felt like dying. Then they realize they are still alive, move on to write the great chapter of their journey. Not to belittle the admission process: it works beautifully as expected, throwing the net and catching the big fish according to their standards, so they can move higher in the US News Report ranking. But who knows about the fish: are they still growing, or already achieve the peak of their deveopment. How about those “undesired” fish? Who knows if they are already destined to be “feeder” or will grow to those beautiful Kois? The truth is no ones knows, less the school admission. Every one has their distinct development curve: some are early, some late bloomers. What make life so excited, is that Mystery.

Hey gang
Wise walnut: first time poster (in this thread), loooooong time lurker lol :). I actually haven’t heard back from UCI yet… They really need to get it together
