***UC Irvine Class of 2020 Admissions Results/Stats Discussion***

@9pmerchdude
You have a GREAT attitude about this. I know a lot of kids who went out of state last year, and ended up coming back to go to community college. I have several friends who did not get into any UC schools. They also plan to go to CC and transfer in. I have heard that the community colleges have become a lot better - they have team sports and club sports as well as clubs related to your major. Stay focused and kick ass in community college ! I have a friend that started 2 years ago at CC - some of her professors teach at UC schools too. The quality of education is there - and its cheaper and class sizes are smaller…

@alphabetatrig and @eliwood5837 - I was going through my aid and I found this. http://prntscr.com/alunbl – It says by the end of March, so most likely soon!

Do any of you guys still have hope to get out of UCI waitlist?

Has anyone received the acceptance letter in the mail yet? I’m still waiting on mine. :expressionless:

still waiting on mine as well. it’s killing me :-S

It’s April 2nd and I still haven’t gotten my financial aid award :frowning:

@kl0097 I’ll be waiting to see if I am admitted off of the wait list. UCI is pretty high on my list of colleges to attend. :slight_smile:

Waiting for my UC Irvine acceptance letter so I can wipe my behind with it
@dhp760

I checked my financial aid reward just recently and it says that it will be showing within the next 15 days.

Has anyone who got accepted yet gotten anything in the mail?

Nothing yet @tigerc325

Phew, this makes me feel a lot better @DHIN46

@CaliDad2020 You weren’t accepted? This year has been truly ridiculous! I know people with your stats exactly (some even lower) that got admitted to honors! Legit wtf is wrong with colleges this year :confused:

^ Def should’ve sent that ACT though

If I am not taking one of the AP test I listed on my application, do I need to alert the school?

@jofanfan: No. AP test results will be used for college credit. If you do not want the credit then not taking the test is fine.

@jackisawesome Yep. My D. Legit not accepted UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCD, UCI. And she’s a “guaranteed” UC admit - so she got UC Santa Cruz. And she’s a girl in engineering, science olympiad medal winner, Cal Tech research, 6 varsity letters. UCLA and Hopkins college level courses, awesome recs…

(the 2190 is basically a straight correlation to the 33 so she didn’t think it would have helped - might have been a mistake.)

But some dude from Texas or Dubai paid 38k to grab her spaces at the 6 UCs so that Janet Napolitano could renovate her mansion and the UCs could hire a few more admins…

The UC system is full of carpetbaggers from out of state, so they don’t prioritize what is good for the state. Oh well. She got into great privates (as well as UMich and UWash) and got some fat merit money so we will figure it out.

But it’s a loss for UC and their embarrassing - and long-term harmful to CA - 20% female engineering rate…

Yep! The UC system will really be at a loss :frowning: @CaliDad2020

@jackisawesome It will probably fall apart!!! lol…

It is kinda amazing tho that they all claim every year they are dedicated to increasing gender diversity in engineering, then a girl with demonstrated commitment to engineering and good stats only gets accepted to 1 our of 7 UC’s.

Oh well - not interested in raining on anyone else’s parade, but the next time there is a question of increasing UC budget, the UC’s won’t get much support from families like ours. Why increase the budget so OOS kids can come got to school here?
