***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 See comment 2279 :smiley:

guys I know I always prioritized the UC system but for everyone of you that didnt get into any UC campus by far but got into the CSU system should be proud all the same. when they say UC is better it doesnt necessarily mean the best, it all depends on you (the person) and the campus you’re referring to. correct me if i am mistaken, but there are so many excellent schools in the CSU system too. just because it’s not UC doesnt mean that it’s not good nor not worth attending. from the moment that many of you are more familiar with the california educational system, I’d like to hear your thoughts about that, hope this makes sense and that it helps!

@briannacaolee - That’s really nice of you to share what you did. Thank you. Getting rejected and also having to mention to all the curious (some well wishing) people … can be draining. It is wonderful to hear how you turned things around. All the best wishes.

@Owls2017 Financial aid rejection doesn’t mean you are rejected. Mine FA was denied but got in early

So does anyone know when uci is coming out?

I don’t know if this helps california kids for me to say this but as an out of state kid from Illinois, we would love to have a state system as good as your UC and CSU, from the outside we look in on it so highly and you guys have the benefit of your schools proritizing in-state kids, but we don’t so I know a CSU isn’t as “good” but please just take a step back and realize how good they actually are

Wait so it is coming out on March 22?

@keeks2018 just the fact to attend a california school and study under the california educational system is a prestige and a dream come true for all the oos

CSU has some pretty strong schools so I think it’s good amd people here can confirm that

OMG March 22 is way to late…

People who have been in California for a long time will realize why there are 3 sets of colleges here. First is the UC which is geared for students wanting to obtain an advanced degree. The CSU system that is greared for people who want to work in industry’s post graduation and the community college system which is intended for 2 yr degrees and certificate programs. The three systems.for the most part do not cross lanes. For instance the phds you get at cal state you can’t get at UC. For it to be obtained at the cal state it has to be a joint program through a UC. One is not better then another. It is what you do while there that makes all of the difference. It is the network’s you grow, clubs you get involved in and the.work.you put into your studies. The fact that you do or do not get into a UC will not define you. I have experienced both school.systems and learned in both. They both have their strenghts and weeknesses. If you are able to get into any of the CSU or UC schools you should be proud. Just think how hard it will be for your kids 20+ yrs from now. Good luck to all.of you.

@strssdsnr24 Last year I only applied to UCs, so this year I did a mix of UCs and CSUs( I also considered some oregon schools but didn’t really want to leave California). I also made sure to have my essays proofread by a few different people (all of whome were in college at the time) since last year I didn’t have my essays proofread.

Hi guys ^^
I just notice you guys haven’t posted any acceptances. I am guessing the 3 pm “release” was for TAG students.

Thanks for sharing this, many kids let rejections/acceptances define their worth.

@Bean981 this made me feel better, so that means I should be proud all the same because I got into CSU but not UC

@Lauris including myself, but here there are amazing people who made me understand that acceptance or rejection does not define anyone! thanks to all of you guys!

My D has the following Financial Aid information. Does this mean anything?

Our office has completed the initial evaluation of the information you and/or your parents’ provided on the 2018-19 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal Application. Based on that information, you are ineligible for need-based financial aid but you may be eligible for other financial assistance.

@venm1337 omg I love ur profile pic, SHINee!!!

Well, I got rejected by UCSB, UCD, UCSD, and UCLA. I’m so scared for UCI & all this waiting is only making me more anxious! UCB is my dream school but I think my hopes are just hanging onto a thread by now :frowning:

Is there any chance coming out at 5pm

Don’t lose hope. Just remember wherever you end up is where you were meant to be. I know it sounds corny but life has a way of directing you where you’re supposed to end up. I wasn’t a great student in high school. But I went to community college and became an honors student. Because of the amazing transfer program available in California I ended up transferring to UCLA and getting a Physiological Science undergrad degree. I went a different way but I ended up with a great degree. There are benefits to going to a community college. You can save a lot of $ doing your general ed and you can explore different classes to find your passion.

I know that right now this is very intense and you’re hearing about your friends and classmates getting into different schools and it might feel frustrating. But this time will pass and you’ll find your way. Trust me, when you’re a grown up (I’m one) no-one asks or cares where you went to school.
Also, when you go into the job market, it’s you who makes the difference, not the degree. I’ve heard many stories of Ivy League grads being passed over for jobs for applicants with great personalities and social skills.

So don’t give up, you have your whole life ahead and you will be fine!
