@dawnofdusk I don’t think that they’ll go that late, even though it is possible. They probably just give that date in order to cover themselves in case they get delayed or something.
When did early decisions come out for UCI?
TO ALL NURSING APPLICANTS!!!
I created a thread for class of 2022 UCI nursing decisions: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/nursing-major/2065724-uc-irvine-nursing-c-o-2022.html#latest
I need help making a decision. I was hoping some of you guys could weigh in. I got into UCSD for environmental sciences (applied under environmental engineering but hopefully can transfer into it), and San Jose State for Mechanical Engineering. I got rejected from UCLA, UCD, UCSB, Waitlisted at Cal Poly slo and waiting on Irvine. I’m hoping I get into Irvine but I don’t know if I should go to UCSD or San Jose. What makes this so difficult is I’m very local to UCSD and I’m worried I won’t get a true college experience being so close to the familiar. I know it’s a great school so that’s what’s conflicting me. Do you think I could still have a good experience there? Can anyone weigh in? UCSB was my dream school and I couldn’t even get a waitlist. Pretty upset this evening. I had a lower GPA (3.9) but high test scores (33, 34 superstores) and pretty good essays and EC’s. :((
@catsandcandles I personally feel like you should go to UCSD, even if you live close by, you can still get a great college experience. It’s a higher ranked school, as most people know, and is a really great school like you say, so if it were my decision I’d be choosing UCSD. I also got rejected from UCSB today so I feel your pain. Praying for UC Irvine to come through for me.
Do you have lower chance of getting accepted to UCI if you apply as business major?
what are the chances of getting into uci if i got rejected from every UC except ucsc so far? i got into all the csus i applied to including cp pomona, csu long beach, and sdsu and was waitlisted at slo. feeling dejected now because i honestly thought my stats and ecs were pretty good
If you look thru this thread, others have posted about changing their major at UCSD. Doesn’t sound easy or guaranteed. Congratulations and luckily you have options!
What are your stats if you don’t mind my asking @stressedsnr
Sorry, should have said if you look thru the UCSD thread, not this one.
@BlizzardX
i have 3.9 uc gpa
1530 SAT
740 on SAT math 2 subject test, 740 on chem SAT subject test
200+ volunteer hours
several awards and distinctions
solid ecs including several leadership positions
good essays that talked about overcoming hardships and how that helped me grow as a person, i also used them to expand on and show my progress in my ecs
(applied to mostly cs, econ, and undeclared majors, accepted to ucsc and all csu as cs, received acceptance into honors program at sdsu)
@Lyoder2051 of course they do. PCC is one of the best community colleges. They have a TAG program for:
Arizona State University
Pepperdine University
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Merced
UC Riverside
UC Santa Barbara
UC Santa Cruz
University of Redlands
Whittier College

@BFPengi wow thats cool!
@Lyoder2051 @BFPengi I’m from pcc! Our transfer advisers worked for the UCs as admissions reviewers!
I know people don’t like to do this, but i’ve been rejected by UCSB, UCSD, and waitlisted at UCSC. What are my chances of getting into UCI?
UC Gpa: 3.6
Act: 31
Max extra curriculars
Lots of leadership
Lots of community service
First gen college student
Hispanic
@tryin2graduate I think your stats look pretty good. Just to let you know even if you’ve been rejected from a UC, that doesn’t mean you’re less likely to get in to a different one
What major ?
The big majors for UCs are business, biology, chemistry, computers, and engineering - all, and all pre med type majors. Harder to be accepted.
@catsandcandles my daughter was also worried about going to school too close to home. We’re also in San Diego. She was worried that she wouldn’t get a true feeling of independence being only 20 minutes away. I was like, “Seriously? What are you afraid of? Do you think I’m going to drive down there and make sure you get to bed on time? Let me tell you kid, ain’t nobody got time for that. Also, why do you always think I’m trying to hold you back? Do you think I want to live with you forever? No. You are possibly the worst roommate ever! My whole purpose in life is to give you wings so that I can kick you out of the nest.”
Also, if you really think about it, unless you currently live right next to campus, you will definitely be in another environment when you move in. Most people don’t like to travel too far from their little home bubble. Those in North County don’t go downtown. Downtown rarely travel past 52. No one likes to go to East County. In Scripps we grumble when we have to go to La Jolla. And we ALL like to say we live here in San Diego because the beach is 15 minutes from any location, but the average San Diegan goes to the beach once a year at the most… because it’s like a whole 15 minutes away…
Don’t choose an IMMENSELY inferior school just to be slightly further away from home. If you’re really looking for a change in environment, San Jose is not the way to do it. It’s still CA, just a crappier version of it, further from the beach. Yes, it’s close to San Francisco and Berkeley, but not close enough. If you don’t regularly drive to LA right now, you will not regularly drive to San Francisco. The traffic is ridiculous (I used to live in SF and in the East Bay) and… ain’t nobody got time for that. Trust me. Your college experience is what you make of it. The location doesn’t matter (unless you commute from home… don’t do that. Go live in the dorms). Go to UCSD.
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 I just got my rejection from sac state today. When my sat’s are 70 points over the average and my gpa is well over the average too. Honestly the admissions people there are rude to begin with. I was only interested in the campus because of its relationship to the Capitol and my interest in govevement. It’s kind of a gross city in my opinion and when I went to visit I didn’t like it at all so that’s why I considered it a super super last choice and it hurts like a mf I got rejected cuz of that. In my opinion it’s a low CSU and I think you deserve better than that even though I don’t know you. I’m not just bashing on the school to be salty and I’m not bias because I got rejected. My feelings were like this before I even found out just based on the rudeness kind of like how UCI has been. Anyways, I hope you get in to the places you have left
