***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

Im gonna have to dispute the match. Can you submit some GB proof please?

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 its a quiet city, tbh. We call ourselves the “Irvine Bubble” because its really like a bubble of a suburban area lol. Imo, nothing ever happens here, which is why uci isnt really my first choice, but since i got rejected from ever other one, its my only choice haha.

Lots of asian culture here btw, >50% of Irvine HS is asian.

Thank you so much @Gumbymom …I don’t think we should hold our breath for UCI :frowning:

@mitato what were your essays even about?

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 I fell in love with Irvine the first time I visited. It’s so clean and bright. There is really no nightlife, but if you don’t need that kind of action, it’s a happy and beautiful town. The beaches, the mountains, and L.A. are all so close that there are plenty of activities if you look.

I’m so scared…idk what went wrong w my app as well.

Rlly good ecs
I felt deep down my essays were also rlly good :frowning:
Rejected from ucla(expected), ucsd(surprised I didn’t get undeclared), and even ucsb(well I guess I applied thru cs and they accept thru major and I didn’t know :frowning:
I’m praying for uci

@mitato I’m just surprised the UC’s even considered you, cause I thought they had a policy of no grades below a C or a D

@jj1999 One was addressing my two Fs. Talking about how I originally looked to make excuses instead of looking for solutions, but eventually owned up to my own flaws in order to address them and what I learned from this mistake.
One was about my community service, but how my biggest service is through the little acts I do everyday and how many years from now I will likely forget about academic accomplishments, but seeing the leaders I inspired succeed and those I helped struggle with depression be happy will be forever ingrained in my mind.
One was about my leadership and in a world of loud voices, they need a leader like me who is able to understand and incorporate the different strengths of every individual in order to elevate the school and society as a whole.
And the last one was about my passion for the environment. Anecdotes about my excitement whenever encountering nature and my pursuit of that passion when I went to the Dominican Republic to help to efforts combatting global warming.
Overall, I felt like they were very good essays, but I had few expert opinions judging them, so I don’t know for certain haha.

@Mitato your essays sound amazing!!

@Mitato Sound good to me! No matter what anyone says to you, there is a reason you got into those schools and whatever that reason is, essays or not, you deserve it. And to those of us who may not be pleased with their results, just remember, failure is only failure if you don’t learn from it: life will not always work out the way you want it to.

@Mitato Ah, nice. Apologies for the insensitive comment, but respect for getting into UCLA especially with all the odds against such an applicant. My essays were about me overcoming how I made excuses for myself by actually taking action (related to losing 30+ lbs and stuff), another one was about an experience I had leading a group in a business program, another one was about my football team losing the practice clock, and how I helped solve the problem through leadership. The final one was about my passion for history and the philosophical concepts behind them. I think my lack of extracurriculars and a subpar GPA (4.0 UC weighted), with adequate test scores (33 ACT). I’m just ticked I didn’t get into any UC given how much work I put into them (started them in the summer). Kudos to you for getting in. I thought my essays were good, and my tutor had faith in them (he helped tailor them around me as a person, which worked since he knew me for 5-6 years). I really just think its because they had no more room in such a competitive university with such few spots. I doubt it’s because I underqualified that much. I’m praying USC is kind to me tomorrow, since I poured my heart into the USC supplements and my common app essay

@jj1999 Good luck. I wouldn’t worry about it to much … UC is good but theres always the CC UC transfer route, some offer TAP or pretty much from what I understand guaranteed acceptance. I’m also worried about USC :(.

@lyoder2051 I wasn’t too set on going to the UC’s. I put more stock into the private schools I applied to (took an L from Boston College, Northeastern, waitlisted by Boston U and accepted to two colleges in minnesota but i sure dont wanna go there). I’m on UCSB’s waitlist, and I may appeal that, I’m not sure. I just want a UC in case money becomes a problem for me.

Can you appeal a waitlist if you have already accepted it?

@twins2000 @Lyoder2051 thanks!

Does anyone know what happens if you change housing from off-campus to on-campus on the FAFSA eventhough the deadline already passed?

Which is a better school from the following: UCR, UCD, UCSC, UCSD, UCI?
Can someone please place them in order from the best to worst? I’m trying to consider my options and figure out which UC to go to.

@Suzimika18: Best for major, location, social scene?? What is best for one applicant is not always best for another. Which school did you personally like best?

@Suzimika18 best to worst: sd, Irvine, Davis, santa cruz, Riverside. I know Davis might be better than Irvine academically, I wouldn’t want to live in the middle of nowhere
