***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

I emailed UCI undergraduate admissions office Tuesday night about something unrelated to their decisions delay, but I haven’t heard back from them yet and I’m wondering if they just ignored what I had to say :confused:

@Gumbymom I personally liked UCLA and never looked into any other campus but since I was rejected, I’d like to get to know other campuses that I was accepted to. I’m looking for a school that is good for political science and also has a decent social scene.

@UCFreakKKK:
Average UC GPA last year for Undeclared Physical Sciences was 3.93 so you are on target.
Average SAT was 1315 so your SAT is a bit low.
Applicants: 1,221 Admitted: 421

I would say 50/50 chance but again your EC’s and essays will both contribute to your chances.

Can you guys please chance me? I’m scared to death for UCI; it’s my dream school

UC GPA: 3.7
Major: Undeclared Social Sciences
SAT: 1540 (800 M, 740 RW, 16 essay)
excellent essays
300+ volunteer hours, founder/VP of autism awareness club, NHS, varsity badminton, NSLC, lots of other extracurricular activities

I’ve been accepted to UCSB, UCSC, & UCR, but denied from UCLA, UCD & UCSD…

@Suzimika18: For Political Science, I would say UCSD, UCD (close proximity to state capital), UCI, UCSC and UCR.

For social scene, that is really personal. If you want to be near a city and beaches then UCSD and UCI. Small town, laid back feel then UCD or UCSC. UCR a nice smaller campus and an up and coming UC with great potential not the best location.

You really need to visit and I am sure one of these would stand out above the rest for you. I have visited all these campuses and I found something to like about all of them.

@Gumbymom…what would be better…cog sci at UCSC or comp sci honors college at UCR?thanks!

@Twins2000: Which major is preferred and what are the career objectives?

@anteater24 Hard to say, but my guess is that you’re just on the verge of being accepted or denied. A lot while depend on how they value what you put on your essays and the weight they put on the ECs.

@mitato thank you!

@anteater24 Hard to say below the average GPA range but you not going into engineering or CS should it should be competitive.

From what I heard, UCI doesn’t necessarily admit by major. You get accepted first and then it goes to the school, if they don’t accept you into your major they set you as undeclared…

well I applied to aerospace and mechanical engineering alternate so that would be good news for me. UCI is my last hope before ELC, I really don’t want to go to Merced, (though UCR is possible and I would be fine with that.)

So is it next week?

@Twins2000 I would actually major in Comp Sci and double major or minor in cog sci. For Comp Sci, the UCs are comparable. Overall UCSC is the better college and they have a good Comp Sci program. It’s prettier and has a traditional college feel, but it also has a very hippie/stoner vibe. UCR has a good Comp Sci program but it’s not in the best area and has a very commuter feel. For Cog Sci UCSC is the clear winner. So I would go to UCSC and add the Comp Sci major or change my major to Comp Sci and add the cog sci minor.

@Jellup They will put you into undeclared even if you didn’t apply to it. However, you will need to stand out from the rest of the applicants.(Good grades, essay, etc.)

Have acceptances come out yet??

@Gumbymom I am asking for my son who is been admitted to UCR and UCSC for Mech E and into UCSD as undeclared (rejected from LA, SB, D). He does not want to go to Riverside or SC and the only option for the higher tier UC is SD but he also doesn’t want to invest one or two years in some unguaranteed admission into Mech E based on the lottery system that SD Jacobs uses. We were wondering if UCI admits undeclared to school, like UCSD, or do they admit to engineering?
He has a UC 4.0W GPA, ACT 33, Math II (720),11 AP classeses including senior year and dual enrollement.

@BrightOasis UCI does not admit by major. Instead, it admits the students into the college first before sorting into majors, so there is a chance that if there’s too much competition in the major, that your son will get in but be put under undeclared. Can’t know for sure until they release the results, but hoping for the best for both of you.
