Wrote about growing up with a brother with autism/being introduced to the world of special education, volunteering in Nicaragua and acting like a leader, how I’ve learned to save money starting from a young age, and overcoming stage fright
I know I have a lot of volunteering and extracurricular but not as good grades and I also know that others have done more than I have
Is there any chance they accepted me just so they could maintain their schools average GPA/SAT scores (I believe around 3.9/1290)? I’m the only one in my senior class of 134 I’ve heard has got in and my friends who got waitlisted had really good academics…did they make a mistake?
Noah fence @Owls2017 but when u say “Yesterday was the day to sort alll “yield protection” people out so they can have a clear number of how much they can admit those who will 100% go there.” Idk it rubs me the wrong way because for PLENTY of kids with high stats (inc me) UCI is their top choice lol? They shouldn’t be yield protecting in the first place because they have no clue who wants to go there more than other schools. Don’t make it seem like those who were waitlisted didn’t wanna go because that’s not true and it’s rude to those of us who are hurt by the waitlist decisions.
Could it be that the people who have not heard back yet are mostly rejections? Ik not a lot of acceptances have been sent out but I think they will accept a lot more from waitlist. It just doesn’t make sense to release waitlist and then go back to acceptances. Anything is possible though
@peppapigg my bad. Obviously you guys deserve a spot more than us but I just wanted to give those who didnt hear back some hope . I shouldn’t have said that and you are completely right.
@Owls2017 no it’s ok! This whole thing is so confusing for all parties it’s like there’s no straight way to think about it without hurting someone u know? I totally get where you were coming from dude, no sweat <3
And to everyone waiting, don’t lose hope!!! No one knows what’s yet to be released so there’s absolutely still a chance or acceptances rolling out! I believe in you all
@sadreaxonly Lol. It does matter what major you apply as. Most science/engineering majors are capped and so they have high standards than someone who might apply as say gender studies.
@peppapigg I was accepted with average stats. 3.875 UC GPA, 1310 SAT. Cognitive science major. It’s not about who has the better grades. This is from their website-“If you’re like most applicants to UCI, you excelled in high school or your current higher education institution. Congratulations on your success!
But there’s more to a UCI student than a great academic record. At UCI, we also value uniqueness. So whether or not you have the highest GPA or college entrance exam scores, we want to know what distinguishes you from everyone else”
