UC IRVINE Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Rejected :frowning: for Business Admin
4.0 GPA
All pre-reqs done and had good essays, community service, and work experience

How are we going to get a response from them? This freshmen waitlist thing is driving me crazy… I did not work this hard just to be a freshmen lol

Please let us know if you got any feedbacks!

@drewcue unfortunately they rarely tell you the reason, but you can try calling their admissions office.

Reapplied for this cycle!

ACCEPTED for public health sciences with a UC gpa of 3.3, no tag. I genuinely believe it was my personal insight/ecs that probably helped!

@GigilsAwesome yes, so the admissions office waits for students to either accept or deny their admission from UCI, and from the opening of potential spots that they have they begin to re-evaluate the candidates from their waitlist pool, in order of descending strength of applicant (strongest first)… unfortunately the acceptance rate out of the waitlist pool is less than 10%… I would know, I was waitlisted out of High School as well.

Not only is the waitlist for Freshman, It says I submitted it 4/21/2020.
I’m certain today is Monday the 20th.

Hey guys, after stalking this forum for a few days I’m finally replying!! I got waitlisted at uci, I’m not sure what to make of it, because it says “freshman waitlist”???

Hi guys,

UCI wasn’t my top choice so I haven’t posted in this thread but I got accepted today. I’m really shocked since I had a low GPA back in Fall when I submitted the app. Also I didn’t do most of the pre-majors even though the say “required for transfer” on the articulation agreement… hopefully this gives you guys some hope!

UC GPA (Fall 2019): 3.28

Did anyone else get the portal before the email??

I still haven’t received an email. I just checked my portal around 7:30.

I got accepted with a 3.87 GPA for the poli sci major from another UC! Congrats to everyone! Also I hope everyone else gets into another great school

I did my application last-minute and did my PIQ’s last minute. I wish I had more time to do them but had a concussion and injuries from a fall off a scaffold that took months to recover from.

In my applications to other schools in February and March I was able to include more things, and realized I left out 30-40% of important extracurriculars and volunteer work including pro-bono jobs I did for non-profits; research work I did that is in the UNLV oral history research archives; volunteer work I did of painting murals in small towns to promote tourism; i moderated a panel discussion at General Assembly; i was a judge at a Design & Media Arts Symposium for LA Trade Tech College; and a lot more extracurriculars. I wonder if it’s worth even mentioning these if I submit appeal letters to other UCs I get rejected from.

Hmm seems very strange this year as many High GPAs were rejected or waitlisted. Maybe UCI knows you guys got or will be accepted by UCLA or UCB and so they reject you and leave spots for the lower GPAs? If this reasoning is followed, I was accepted with a 3.97 GPA for cs, maybe UCI knows I’m not going to be accepted by UCLA lol so they left a spot for me

@lolz1122 UC Campuses are not allowed to communicate with each other about decisions.

UCI is the only campus I didn’t get outright rejected from with a 3.9+, even Riverside turned me down.

Only CSU’s talk to each other about admissions, and it’s usually to push applicants down a rank for ADT, not up.

for me, it is more like I got no more chances for other schools. Uci rejected me, not to mention UCLA… SIGH

-3.77 Gpa (so low) with 20 activities (volunteer, club president, intern, program…)
-completed all major requirement in fall semester, so I only take 3 GE classes in this spring semester For the GE certificate.

But have never thought of this result (rejected but uci)
