UC IRVINE Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

i got waitlisted at 7:20 PM
Criminology major with 3.9 GPA
Accepted to UCSC

my only question is that the email said they would offer me a spot on the freshman waitlist? does this mean i won’t transfer in as a sophomore if i get moved off the list?

what you are referring to is a real thing (yield protection) but probably isn’t the case here. you fall within the average gpa range for admitted cs students for ucla so there’s no reason to think you will definitely be rejected. many of the students being rejected with high gpas probably failed to complete ALL required courses (which vary between UC campuses) for uci specifically.

I got accepted at like 5 pm today!

Major: Biomedical Engineering
GPA: 3.4
IGETC and major completion: Yes
Local: no, SD
EC: a lot in hs (robotics, ted ed, etc). In college i was VP of 2 clubs, in honors society, awarded deans list, volunteered at the hospital, was a lab ta, etc

Pretty sure what helped me were my EC and my essays!

Not too sure about that. I was accepted by UCB with a 3.68 GPA and I was accepted today by UCI. (GPA kinda felt a bit low to me for UCB)

BTW is there like a FB page for UCI transfers?

Accepted lol
Civil Engineering Major, GPA 3.4
No TAG, from Bay Area CC
IGETC completed by spring.

@ajajaj12 I know what went wrong with mine.

1 - I was trying to transfer from a CSU.
2 - Some requirements for my major weren’t available at my school until 3rd or 4th year.
3 - There was an increase in applicants for UCI. If most of them were from a CCC (which I bet they were) then us CSU people had no chance to begin with really. Some CSU people still got in so that is great!
4 - They probably didn’t like my essay responses or ec because they said those are other factors that they use to decide whether or not they want to admit a student besides their GPA.

Rejected with a 3.95 GPA for CS. I’m not too bummed since my first choice UCD accepted me but still all the rejections seem kind of strange. I’ll admit I’m not the most well rounded, I do have ECs but they aren’t that great.

Congrats to everyone who got in!

Hello all,

Dang what a crazy wait and what a messy process it all was!

Congratulations to those who have gotten into UC Irvine. You guys must have been amazing and had wonderful achievements to earn your place. Praying and hoping you all have one stellar journey that will take you to many great places within your future.

To those waitlisted, don’t give up. You can wait it out and see if you get in or go with another school. Don’t let this define you. You are all still amazing and going to go an amazing job in university no matter where you go. Best wishes and prayers out to all of you.

And lastly, to my fellow students that have received rejections. There will be other schools. You may feel down and might feel a little negative towards yourself. Know this…you are smart and all amazing. Don’t let this one rejection redefine who you are as a future engineer, teacher, doctor, designer, dancer, dentist, chemist, etc. You can still achieve those careers and excel greatly no matter what institution you go to. I know people may beg to differ. School name isn’t always everything. How we work shows in the end and gets us our reward.

Overall, everyone’s life journey is different. Don’t beat yourself up over it but embrace it.

I still got into an amazing university (CSULB) and still am going to kick some butt and become the best doctor I can to my patients in the future.

Good luck to you all in where you go and in everything that you do! Keep fighting in the midst of this crazy university storm of zoom university and college/university admission decisions.

Best wishes to you all,
Klarissa

Congrats to everyone accepted!

I posted my stats previously but now that decisions are out, this is for future reference.
Applied from a CCC

Status: Rejected
Major: Nursing
GPA: 3.73
Notable ECs: Hospital volunteer, leadership position in a service club, paid internship, junior olympic athlete
Essays: Not bad, definitely could be better
IGETC: Yes

Accepted: SJSU
Waiting: UCLA, UCSB (Bio TAG), NYU, USFca

better the personal question on the application better chance to get into uci. Personal questions are very important for UCI. i had lower gpa than most i believe but my answers were very good thant’s why i believe i was accepted, and applied as a regular applicant my gpa was not 3.4 to tag. got accepted today around 5pm.

Is it weird that I still haven’t gotten an email?
I checked my portal after reading that it was updated on here (around 7 pm) and I was waitlisted. But I’m just concerned that I didn’t even receive an email.

ACCEPTED to Business Information Management!!

I got the email at 5:01 pm, I was so nervous beforehand. I can finally rest easy now. I’m SO excited!

Went to CC for 3 years
GPA: 3.81

Anyone majors in Business Information Management? Seem like I am the only ONE

Finally, I found one in Business Information Management. Still I have to finish the other 3 major req with at least grade B.

right here

All I have to finish is ACCT 1B with a B or higher!

Rejected @ 7:30PM via Portal

Major: Computer Science
GPA: 4.0 (when I applied), 3.98 (after TAU)
I would say that I had a good amount of ECs, Leadership positions, and also good essays. I am not 100% if I made all the requirements (I checked and there is one that is a maybe) because the CSU to UC conversion is kinda unpredictable.

Transferring from a CSU.

I’m kinda just generally confused because so many applicants with high GPAs didn’t get in for CS. I also got waitlisted at Davis so I don’t have that much hope for the rest of the UCs

Got accepted. 3 more major req with at least grade B in this Spring.

I have acc 1B, Econ 1B and Java coding
