hey! do you guys know if your TAG decision is based off of the class that u listed on UC TAP or the classes on UC apply (where u turn in your apps). back in september when i applied for tag, i did not list the C++ class that i needed on TAP but then later in january, i updated and submitted a TAU with that C++ class. do you guys think that might’ve affected my TAG?
@lulu102 , ok but if we meet all the requirements it absolutely should be a guarantee. A lot of us relied on our TAGs and if we knew it wasnt really a guarantee we wouldve tagged elsewhere. You cant just pick and choose who you accept through TAG, thats just false advertising and just wrong
@shredder47 I understand, it isn’t fair at all. But if the school has way too many qualified, skilled and interested people than they can actually enroll, it leads to rejection. The demand is greater than the supply. It isn’t false advertising. You do not know which school will get that many applications through TAG. They can’t just accept you based on you completing the requirements and that’s it, your in. They review other things in your application and compare who is ideally better for their school.
For example,
You do see TAG applicants not getting in due to 1) a change in TAG course requirements 2) TAG GPA dropped below minimum during the year 3) Withdrawing or not passing required courses needed for TAG transfer.
just stating facts. even if you tagged another school, it can lead to the same problems that I am telling you. Did the counselor not tell you this?
if you get accepted through TAG and you DON’T violate any of the rules you signed off of, then you’re in. if they deny you after you get accepted your TAG, then you can fight it and say “but I fulfilled all the requirements.” at least thats what my UCD TAG rep told me
To add to @samantg . Yes, if they accepted your TAG already and told you “you are in”, then I believe they cannot take it back THAT IS IF you did not violate anything. But also, you guys still have another chance of getting in. Like I said before, I understand it says guaranteed admission but maybe the demand was just much greater than the supply this year.
Can anyone answer my question about the provisional admission contract for TAG students? It doesn’t list that we need to keep a 3.40 do you guys think that they lifted the requirement due to the virus?
@lulu102 I have no problem with TAGs being denied due to the reasons you stated. If all the requirements and specifications aren’t met then the TAG should be denied. But if you have over a 3.4 and meet all the requirements it should be a guaranteed acceptance, after all thats the whole point of having a “Transfer Admission Guarantee”. If they have too many good students applying thats on them and not the applicant. They should have raised the gpa requirement threshold for TAG
can someone pls help me out with this question lol
My question keeps getting ignored too
@sadstemstudent a UCI counselor told me they base it off of the TAU. Apparently they don’t start reviewing applications after the 1/31 deadline TAU is submitted. As long as that has the most recent updates to your coursework you should be fine
thats good news! and also where did u get that provisional admission contract for TAG ?
lol we aren’t ignoring you on purpose, we just don’t know what the answer is. I submitted my TAG to UCI too, and it says 2.0 in the conditions section for me as well. I would assume it would be best to keep a 3.4 just in case though.
@hoshizora and @sadstemstudent , I honestly don’t know the answer to both of your questions. I’m sorry. Maybe try the chat on the website they have?
@sadstemstudent it was after I was accepted to UCI:) It will show up on your portal though I was skeptical of it since it doesn’t tell me anywhere that I have to keep my 3.40 otherwise I’ll be rescinded
I might just contact admissions at this point
@shredder47 agreed but it can happen I think. Maybe they reached the limit on TAG but for regular applications, they will still accept you cause you did TAG. Who knows.
@shredder47 orrr they are still sending out applications and all you guys are impatient to wait and find out LOL haha
@lulu102 Maybe lol, dont wanna keep my hopes up too much though. Did you get in for BIZ-Econ?
@shredder47 I did not TAG UCI, so I am a regular applicant but no, not yet;). I haven’t heard back.
@shredder47 Do you mind me asking what your GPA is for the major preparation part?
For major prep I got a 4.0, A’s in Micro, Macro, Calc 1 and 2. I also took all the accounting classes and got all A’s, Bus Law, Intro to Business, and Business Info Systems and got all A’s in those. Also got an A in stats. I got a C in English tho
does the email they send tell you that you have been accepted or does it say to check your portal?
