I got two emails. The first one was yesterday at like 4:50 PM and it just says there is an update to your application. I got the actual acceptance email this morning.

No, I was accepted yesterday afternoon in the portal around 4:50 which is when I got the first email. The second email just did not come until this morning, and it is basically a copy and paste of the acceptance letter from the portal.
does anyone know if i got an F in eng 103 and retook and replaced it with an A, it made me out of the running for tag? my friend told me at the time to just get an F instead of a W which i now know is worse -__-
i dont think so, as long as u finish your second course of english by spring 2020 i think ur cool.
@tomnooksacrook you should be fine. I got an F in one class and later passed it with an A and was admitted last year.
Also, W’s make you look bad far more than an F. That’s a fact.

i heard that in the past, uci once sent out decisions everyday, little by little. last year, they sent out big batches on every Fridays and small batches throughout the other days towards the end of April. I assume those small batches were rejection letters.
@C105213 @tomnooksacrook okay that is for sure false. An F is definitely not better than a W. A W does not drop your GPA nor does it say the actual grade. W’s make you look bad only if you have more W’s than actual grades. 1 or 2 are fine as long as you have a lot more classes and grades than the W’s. 100%.

@PartyKicked I’m an electrical engineering and I also did TAG, but I haven’t heard from UCI yet either. I talked to my community college transfer counselor as well as a UCI guidance couneslor and they both said I qualified for TAG so I don’t think I got rejected but I’m starting to get a little nervous as well.
Obviously an F is not better than a W but a W reflects your attempts. An F can drop your gpa but an F forces the student to improve their gpa. when a student improves the F the new grade weighs in like if the F never happened. The F may be on the transcripts but they are not considered for admission. They are ignored. The F never happened whereas a W shows the attempt and it permanently stays there even after you tried the same class and got a grade. People can have Ws back to back without ever showing effort to take it again and that looks bad.
