UC Riverside Transfer Fall 2016

Yeah thank you dude. It’s really going to help. Y’all are welcome to come and be co starters or join when I do make this happen. But you have to like animals!

And yeah I have to wait 150 seconds before each post. and if I try to before that 150 seconds it makes me wait ANOTHER 150 seconds and so on. Plus I have bars over my picture so I look like a thug 8-X
Until April 6th

@uchopeful414 - I have to say, your forum avatar is the only one in this thread that makes you stand out - so embrace it I guess?

For those who have yet to fill out a housing application - keep in mind that the dorms and Glen Mor (the brand new campus apartments that’s built over a haunted house) also require dining plans to be purchased. So if you don’t like the idea of being forced into buying dorm food, then pick one of the other apartments on campus.

Has anyone received their admissions packet? I just got a parent booklet in the mail today.

I haven’t received any packet. it’s only been a week and 3 days since I got admitted. Maybe I’ll receive it next week.

I got mine a few days back.

Takes about 3 weeks according to the UCR website
Does it come with anything cool? Like a hat or shirt or bracelet?

I got mine on the 21st, it came with this silk-like banner thing, not exactly a scarf, a formal letter of acceptance, and 2 brochures

It comes with a scarf!!! Holy cow, that’s a hook up for sure.

I’m so excited!

A scarf??? When will you need a scarf living in the blazingly hot desert of Riverside? Haha I’d much rather get a UCR shirt or something. After all, they’ve got all those other UCs in more “pleasant” climates to compete with.

Accepted 3/24
Gpa 3.69
Political science

@Eterion when it goes down to it, scarves can feel special while being generic af. They can mass produce one size and send them to everyone. With shirts they need to know sizes and stuff.

anybody trying to live off campus that know of any decent apartment buildings?

Honestly there aren’t any decent apartments in riverside. Just my opinion

Also, sophomore transfer?

@TwistedMetal246 palmilla condos are pretty nice. has security and is only a mile away from campus. right next to the stater bros plaza.

they are luxury condos that are affordable. I had a sibling go to ucr and we own a condo there that is currently being rented indefinitely. a lot of college students stay there.

@TwistedMetal246 If I end up going with my gf we’re gonna get a 1BR for $900-1100 a month.
If she doesn’t get accepted for whatever reason, then I’m probably gonna go with a room in a 2br in UV, Sterling, or Grand Marc. Depending on availability and how my tour of the places goes.

@universityforme - I don’t believe UCR accepts or gives priority consideration for Sophomore Transfers. You need at least 60 units to transfer, otherwise you’d have to apply as a Freshman.

@nothingpersnal - I take it you turned down uchopeful’s awesome deal on renting out his living room for $500? Also… I heard Grand Marc is a nightmare - the management team micromanage, the “gated security” is for show only and there’s been a number of robberies/violence in that area. Check their Yelp page.

I think if I can’t secure any decent on-campus housing, I’ll find a room in a house somewhere near campus. Single, no kids and no pets, so fairly easy to find a place. I’ve been doing more research on the on-campus housing options and reviews haven’t been stellar.

A room is your best bet. And if you’re going to pay 900-1100 you might as well just live on campus .-.
And only a select few people get that awesome deal. Strict policy. His rent will be 900 if he wants just the couch.
