Yeah idk if they treat us differently because of the fact that we are transfers. I can’t remember if I told her I was a transfer when I called but maybe the aid is just for freshman?
Ok I’m curious to see!
Alright, I’m wondering if I take summer classes, and then I want to go full time in the regular quarters, will my cal grant not cover my classes. If that’s the case then I probably wont. I’m not taking out loans unless I have absolutely NO other option [-X
lol seems like she really got to you. I’m sure their just tired of answering the same questions day after day.
ok that’s another thing. Because I got a big UCR grant, I figured ok let me live in the apartments because then my grant would pretty much cover everything. But then I called financial aid and she told me if I live In the on campus apartments my award would be reduced, since it costs less than the residence halls. So there went that option 8-|
Luckily my sister lives a mile away and I can live there but I would have liked to live on campus for once
That’s what someone told me when I called them. I don’t know why they don’t disclose that information. For me, their still “on campus,” so if I were to submit a revision, the on campus apartments still fall under on campus because the only options are 1) at home, 2) on campus, and 3) off campus. I don’t think they would adjust it until they realized you were living in the apartments though if I understood correctly.
Yeah that’s what I thought too and I got mad because my thought was why would they give a financial aid package of its not an option to live in the residence halls. But i just called the office again and she said we would have to email them to tell them we’re living in the on campus apartments and they would adjust the award
Tell me about it. That’s what I mean that they treat us differently because we’re transfers. We don’t get as much money thrown at us because their priority is getting freshman in the door.
When I told her there wasn’t an option to click “on-campus apartments” she she oh…so I really don’t think they think about transfers too much
I’m still going to Highlander Day. I figured if anything, and I get offered admission to any other college, being at Highlander Day will give me a better idea of whether I still like UCR vs. “some other college”.
Thinking of coming up the day before and spending the night so I don’t have to deal with driving early Saturday morning, staying all day and driving home.
I know I will end up in riverside eventually. I’m looking forward to touring the whole school and buy some souvenirs after.
Haha yea - would be awkward to spend all this money on UCR gear, only to pick another UC campus and end up wearing the clothes anyway since you spent money getting them.
Of course, if you get into say… Berkeley, you could just change the R to a B =) .
I’m going but it’s going to take a lot from UCR to win me over. I’ll be at all the BCOE stuff though!
Haha that’s true. But I’m 80% sure I’ll be going to UCR. i just want a jacket lol
Ugh so weather forecast shows that Riverside area may be raining on Highlander Day. I was hoping to experience the “heat” and see if its something I can get used to again.
I can’t stand the heat, but I also don’t want to be outside when it’s raining. still going for the jacket. Lol
I’m gonna rep some clothes from my CC when I get to uni, gotta represent us CC transfers
I can’t seem to find how much I’ll be receiving from UCR
Oddly enough, UCR sent me my “you’ve been admitted” email this morning. Despite the fact that their portal changed for me in March and I had already submitted my SIR…
@grinchmeup - that makes two of us. I’m older than most transfer students too.
@grinchmeup Yeah I did but it said there’s no available award for me yet…
I submitted the financial aid forms they requested last week and the next day my message in Growl changed to state that my application was complete. Today I received an email saying I still had to complete something, but when I go on growl it doesn’t show anything, but the message changed to say my application is incomplete… I’m so confused
@sachill I would email/call them. I emailed them the day after I was accepted and then my award showed up the very next day so they might just need a little nudge
