UC Riverside Transfer Fall 2016

@Eterion LOL

@Eterion AHHH LMAOOO

@TwistedMetal246 uhh dude, uhh not trying to be messed up, but like, I think your counselor played you… 'Cause UCs basically want to get you out of there in 2 years, and you need to take intro to chem, gen chem, and o chem, and o chem is the one chem class that you NEED to get an A in because med schools stress that class–and also physiology because it shows your understanding to the WHY and HOW the body works the way it does, and WHAT would happen if you change the shape of a fatty acid, or remove an ion from a connective tissue, like it shows that you just don’t memorize things, but instead know how to critically think and solve problems; anatomy is the one that’s all memorization.

but back to the point, if you’re already accepted, you should IMMEDIATELY make a one-on-one appointment with a counselor to set your schedule with the required classes that most med schools look at: chem, o chem, gen chem, biology (id say maybe just anatomy, physiology, and microbiology?), physics, calculus (i think it’s 1 and 2), AND the new MCATS now have a section specifically for psychopathology, so you’d probably want to take intro to psych and then abnormal psych; but yeah… you should get up on that 'cause like, my major relates to bio, which is what most pre-med students decide on as their major, and i’m also transferring as a bio major, and I’M still going to have some rough time ahead of me when it comes to finishing up what i need, so like i’m kind of worried for you.

idk, i digressed and went off in a tangent, but I hope i helped? Though, I heard from my ex who’s in medschool right now that most people weren’t even bio during undergrad, there were a bunch of people who were like humanities majors and just did the specific classes that were required instead of specifically majoring, 'cause apparently medschools want well-rounded, holistic applicants now, so you’re good in that lol.

idk, but like, I have a bunch of bio and chem stuff if you ever need help with you classes–I even bought a whole disarticulated skeleton for when I took anatomy and had to memorize all 206 (270 from birth) bones and each fissure, epicondyle, condyle, foramen and such, for the lab practicum lol.

@grinchmeup dang dude, just fighting the entire world right now.

Lol Take the bus?

Are willing to do it? Lol seems really far

@grinchmeup to get to riverside from LA in the past I’ve taken the metrolink. And since it’s on a weekend, you can get a whole day pass for $10. Check the train times for metrlink from union station-riverside. Also with a metrolink ticket you’ll get free bus fare for local buses in riverside and (I believe) la metro as well for that day.

yeah it should you can check on the metrolink site what local bus lines it’s good for. also check the last trains back cause you don’t wanna end up stranded in riverside with no more trains headed back to LA lol

has anyone here signed the housing contract for the apartments yet?

@cosgirl did you already hear back from them? The only thing i heard from housing so far was that my application was under review

yeah @Intuitiveoblgtns i heard from them today, they have my contract ready

Hey all - at UCR right now… in the rain lol. The tour guide lady told me that it rains like 5 times in the entire year here. There are definitely some cool spots and not so cool spots - I toured Glen Mor and that turned out to be pretty awesome! Changing my housing application to that now as first choice.

@grinchmeup - I’m glad FA lady didn’t revoke your aid package, that was the first thing that popped in my head since you didn’t elaborate from your message =).

@grinchmeup I decided to go with bannockburn. It took them about 3 weeks to call me.

Seems like everyone are doing their housing application already.

If I SIR, is it going to affect my admission from other UC school? (still waiting on UCI, UCM, and UCSB)

thank God I’m done with precalculus. That class gave me a headache.

Finally moving on to my last math course which is Calculus 1.

Has anyone else gotten the UCR email to apply for honors college?

@grinchmeup they called me and told me my first choice, which was bannockburn was available and I can choose to accept it or stay on the waitlist, but I would have to make a decision in 48 hrs. @stephonic I got the email for the honors college, but I don’t think I’ll apply for it.

@stephonic yes I received the email invited to UCR’s honors program.

@grinchmeup - as tempting as it may be to be roommates with one another, I think we should stick to being “friendly” neighbors at Glen Mor :slight_smile:
