thank you, i am wondering if it’ll be different for WAITLIST opt in appeals. but nonetheless i think its time for me to let go of my ucsd dream. thank you all for sticking with me
Good luck to you and I am sure you will be successful at UCR.
ya both schools r chill. dk why you opted in if you’re not sure if you want to go though, this isn’t really something to worry about since you haven’t been admitted. there are plenty of opportunities here for stem like research and getting help in classes / clubs. this whole school lives and breathes stem. just get excited for slo and if you get in just visit both and see which you vibe with better. also go wherever is cheaper
theres always UC to UC transfer as well! ik people who have transferred UCR → berk and UCSC → UCSD, etc if thats something you’re interested in
ik its been said that the waitlist isnt ranked but is there any pattern at all between people who are getting off the WL?? like those with higher GPAs getting off first, or is it just random by major and whatever departments need to be filled?
same question
idk but I have a 4.0uw/4.75w gpa and im still on the waitlist for ucla, ucsd, uc davis
The UC’s have stated that the waitlist review is just a continuation of the original UC application process so similar criteria is used to determine whom they will admit other than the main factor on waitlists which is open spots.
I have heard that who they admit off the waitlist is not based on GPA or anything like that but just on major and other aspects of the applicants profile that they feel they need more of such as region, gender, etc.
My second choice was an obscure major (i actually wanna major in it tho) does that mean i have a higher chance
UCSD seems to admit off waitlist by major. What would that mean for undecided? Have you seen anyone ever got off the waitlist without a major?
Yes, UCSD admits by major for regular and waitlist admits. Yes, I have seen waitlisted students get off the waitlist for Undeclared/Undecided in the past but UCSD gave all waitlisted students an opportunity to list a 2nd alternate major this year so you should have at least taken advantage and selected some major of interest. As long it is not a selective major, it can be easily changed once you enroll.
Thank you. I did choose sociology. I haven’t seen that major come off the waitlist yet. Have you?
No, I have not seen any Sociology majors admitted from the waitlist.
I know of someone who got in last Friday for sociology.
Do you know what concentration? or was it just General Sociology?
I’m not sure.
Now that biology is no longer a selective major, do we think there will be an increase on the acceptance for the waitlist for biology students? If students were already denied on appeal for biology major, I assume AO will not change denials right? Thanks
In my opinion, removing Biological Sciences from the Selective major list would not have an impact on the waitlist this year. Removing it as a Selective major may have been in the works for a while and all UC’s use enrollment management tools to determine their major yields so it is probably too soon for any impact to be seen.
Regarding appeals, my understanding is that all appeal decisions are final.
just letting any architecture majors know that they have begun releasing waitlist for that major. This girl from my school got of last night I think for urban studies and planning department. Just letting you all know!
