perhaps that could happen.

PLEASEEEE yes

When they send out a round of acceptances from the waitlist will they also send a round of rejections? Or does that come later for those not admitted from the waitlist?

UCSD has done early rejections before and trimmed the waitlist down to a short list soon after the SIR date. But in normal waitlist systems, it often takes until the official closure of the waitlist to get a rejection. Not sure if they will do the short list again this year

I would love to hear where all the waitlisted kids have committed. Mine is going to CU Boulder (unless she gets an offer from UCSD).

My kid accepted SDSU, but just got off the waitlist for Purdue. We want to stay in SoCal, so if he gets of the UCSD wl, he could potentially reassess his options. The only thing I’m hesitant about is that I hear social life at UCSD is dead (UC Socially Dead is its nickname), and I think it is a red flag that a college has no social life. That means the college doesn’t support soft skills development and create the environment where kids can build a strong career/professional network, which is essential for career development after college. THoughts on this?

Hi,

Just responding to your question, from my earlier post:

Bth S22 and S25 got into SD but chose not to attend. S22 has friends attending UCSD. They both have visited and stayed with friends at UCSD.
Comments: socially dead campus :man_facepalming:. Segregated by the colleges, makes university feel- difficult . Beach access is a misnomer.
No sports teams aka football :american_football:
Great if you are pre-med or biological sciences/psychology.

she told me she’s in state and got off April 28th undeclared!

oh wow that’s amazing! i haven’t heard from anyone in state that got off yet other than her

do you think there COULD be a may 2 wave then?

I mean, if they took people off in APRIL for oos, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a wave tomorrow.

My kid is also attending CU-Boulder and declined her offer at UCSD (instate) for Poly Sci-International Relations, so hopefully someone on this thread will be happy.

My kid only applied eng to UCSD (accept) and UCLA (waitlist) instate and declining them to go OOS (higher ranked option). Along the way we learnt UCSD (UC socially dead - actually an admit asked this to UCSD panel at Santa Clara reception few weeks back in a full hall), UCSB - top party school on Niche, Cal - dorms rated among the worst and eng is pressure cooker. My kid is unsure of eng major assigned and emailed UCSD for change options later, and they wrote back that if you want easy flexibility for eng major, you should look elsewhere! I now understand that UC model works for some/many but unfortunately it doesnt for our case

Many kids do not want undeclared, because I heard it is risky. That is why they opened up waiting list early.
