I honestly have no clue what everyone is talking about with the housing message. I assume since I didn’t apply for housing this message wouldn’t be accessible to me anyways…As for the updating parents info at the bottom, that hasn’t changed for me either, however, it might be because I didn’t supply any parent info?
I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure im going to be bald before I get my rejection letter! :-S So mush pessimism flowing through these veins.
@QueSeraSera04 The housing message people are talking about can be found in your UCSD application in Housing>Apply for Undergrad Housing. It’s basically a message saying that the application is currently unavailable, and there are two versions of it. One that is supposedly “good” (indication of acceptance) and one is “bad” (rejection). But they’re all speculations~
what if the change in parent links means your final decision has been made? lol it sounds dumb but when i went back to my application last year (when i was a freshman applicant), the parent links weren’t there either, i believe i also had the bad housing message
…ugh im feeling super down, maybe i should just deactivate
@friedchips I have the bad message and my links are the same as day 1. And I feel ya, everyday that passes has me more and more down and exasperated.
@iwantcoffee Thanks for the guide, it appears I have the ‘bad message’, we’ll see in time if there was any merit to this whole lil acceptance hack stuff.
@friedchips The only way to know for sure is to wait until Friday to see the decision. There’s no point in speculating with the housing messages and the mysterious parent links. Like a lot of people have said over and over, housing messages is just speculations-- hasn’t been proven legitimate
Hello Guys! I was once you all of your position! I am a UCSD 2014 Transfer (Computer Science) and I am here to answer you guy’s questions! Since I assume a lot of people will ask me if the housing message works or not, I will answer it now. The housing message seems to be legit because on 2014’s ucsd transfer post. All the people who got accept had their housing message changed and rejected when their housing message did not change. My housing message changed and I was accepted. Anymore question? Don’t hesitate to ask me
My housing message changed to the good one last friday then changed backed to the old one on Tuesday(maybe in the morning?) My parent link is gone too and Im still having the bag housing message now
@HopeOverFear Hi, I applied computer science and my gpa is 3.71. My housing message also changed last week. But computer science becomes an impacted major this year…So it seems that I may not be able to get in with my first major. If I get in with undeclared or my second major(math), can I transfer into CS major after attending UCSD? How hard is that?
I may call ucsd tomorrow just to see if they have a GPA cut off this year. If I find anything out I’ll let you guys know. Only doing this because I’ve heard in the past that they have had GPA cut offs…not sure if they were actually true. Totally not gonna lie though…it’d be really shallow if they did reject applicants simply because they didn’t meet a certain GPA mark. It’s like "just through the PS and ECs out the door, doesn’t matter if the pre-reqs are done…dude didn’t meet this GPA cutoff so off he/she goes. Smh.
agh ucsd’ my application website is so frustrating…i’m pretty disappointed in them for not being able to catch small details like the housing messages and parent links especially after this many years of speculation…not saying that the housing trick is true, but it’s just so stressful for the applicants and they can’t even provide a valid explanation! i know there’s no use in complaining but i just wanted to vent my frustration sorry
ANYWAYS, guys, in the case i end up getting waitlisted or rejected, do you think it would be reasonable for me to call ucsd and ask why i got the decision i received? i’ll probably try to appeal (i mean it’s worth a shot) and i’d possibly be able to address a few things they were concerned about
