UC San Diego Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@FuturePAinCA Thanks!
@friedchips and @Magichour1814 Don’t give up! I know a lot of people who got their message changed on the day they released their admissions. I will highly think that result will come out April 17th because last year, everyone got theirs on April 18th which is the 3rd Friday of April. I am not too sure about the switching bad to good and back to bad housing message. I remember seeing couple people had that situation during the 2014 transfer but I am not sure if they ended up being admitted or not. But let me repeat myself, for those who have not had their housing message changed, please do not freak out because I knew a ton of people who had their housing message changed the day of admission was released!
@ssssssssky Yes, you are right! Computer Science is currently extremely popular at UCSD since it is ranked top 11 in the nation. Also, UCSD has an amazing great internship programs for engineering major! UCSD does a really good job at taking care of their engineering students since we are known as a engineering school(Jacob school of engineering is extremely renowned). Although CS is an impacted major, it is very likely for you to get your major since UCSD prioritize transfer students a lot more than incoming freshmen. If you do manage to get admitted and you guys are going to Triton Day, I will be one of the representative to show future UCSD CS students tour of the CS lab and answers questions during Triton Day.

@friedchips Dont lose hope!!! Maybe we will get into other good UC such as UCLA!!! Or maybe we will get into UCSD, who knows~ I already have UCSB and Purdue but rejected by U of Illionis at Urbana Champaign :frowning:

@HopeOverFear Thanks for sharing this info! Hopefully we all going to hear the good news this friday

@friedchips If you get waitlisted/rejected on Friday( I really hope not!), you should call the admission office and ask for reasons of your rejection. I called U of Illonis at Urbaana Champaign when I saw my application was denied. They told me I missed some pre-requisite classes and sent me my transcript summary report. These info really helped me for my appeal. I know some schools does not tell you your rejection reason over email~

Hey there everyone! just been having a good past two weeks looking at everyone’s posts and thought I’d join the discussion.
Here’s my profile
Major: Linguistics: Specialization in Cognition and Language
GPA: 3.75 on 4.0 scale.
IGETC: Completed by end of Spring '15
Applied to: UCLA, UCSD, UCDavis, and UCBerkeley.
Top choice is tied between the social life of LA and academics of SD.

I DID get the good housing message, but I’m not really looking into that as a factor. I’m just excited to hopefully hear back from SD tomorrow!

@HopeOverFear Tanks a lot for sharing the information! Now, I feel a lot better. Hopefully, I can get in with computer science! Good luck everyone!

Hi can anyone clarify what is the good and what is the bad message? I originally had the bad message then it changed to the good message about two weeks later then they changed it to something different. Can anyone clearly tell me?

@TheLogicError The “good” message is: “The Housing Office currently does not have updated information on your Admission Status and therefore cannot accept a housing application today. You may come back to this link once Admissions has communicated their decision on your application to UC San Diego. You can check this by logging in at myapplication.ucsd.edu.”

“Bad” message is: “Our records indicate that your admissions status will not allow you to proceed with this Housing Application process for the term indicated. Please contact the Housing Office at 858-534-4010 during our normal weekday office hours of 8am to 4pm.”

This is according to people in this thread as well as transfer students from 2014/ 2013.

Alright, thanks @iwantcoffe. I have the good message. I remember before I had a different housing message, that wasn’t either of the one’s listed.

So do i assume i am rejected since i havnt heard back yet? Transfer student

@sallyyouna Many people haven’t heard back yet. Not sure where you’re getting that you’re rejected.

My parents link is gone on the first page and I still have the bad housing message, guess I’ve been rejected…

@spenceyboi just a feeling, sorry didnt mean to bring your hopes down or anything

I Don’t even have a housing message

@sallyyouna No, don’t assume that! A majority of transfer students haven’t heard back yet (we’re hoping that’s gonna change tomorrow. Also, the time of when you hear back (whether it’s mid March or late April) has nothing to do with the actual decision.

I have the “good” housing message but I’m not sure what people are referring to as the “parents link”. Can anyone explain?

I’m so confused. My parent link is gone (I think, I’m not sure where it was located) but I have the “good” housing message!

@amandamarieee same here, I don’t think the parents link is of significance but if I’m wrong someone correct me.

Where is the parents link located?

@amandamarieee The parent link was located at the main page where there are links to update contact info. And one of them was the parent link. And your parent link should disappear when you get the good housing message! So you’re fine.

But now that people are saying that their parent info link is gone too, with the bad housing message, I’m just going to put this out there, it’s nothing official and it’s just my guess so take it how ever you want: I’m just thinking that if you’re parent link is gone, then it means they have reviewed your application, and then the housing message is an indicator of your decision.

Now I kind of believe in the housing trick thing, but of course I’m not believing in it 100% until I see my actual decision. But for those of you worried about your decision, don’t jump to conclusions yet! You don’t know what can happen in the end, so just wait it out for hopefully 1 more day, and we’ll all know what our fate is. Good luck everyone
