Applied as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE: Computer Science), but was accepted to Mathematics-Computer Science instead as my alternate major. My brother, lower GPA, same classes, was accepted to the former. Is it possible they made a mistake? Can I request to change my major or ask why I was accepted to my alternate major.
Also: Does anyone have any experience with the Mathematics-Computer Science major at UCSD? I know from browsing around that it is more Math/algorithm oriented whereas CSE:CS is more programming oriented - how will this affect my chances at learning what I need to be a capable programmer in the tech world?

Kind of blindsided by my rejections from UCSD and UCLA - but I’m not very surprised. I spent very little time on my UC application and, in hindsight, made blatant errors on it. Very humbling experience. My sights are set on Stanford, anyway.

@csayala93 nope, so somewhere on their side they messed up a checkbox or something. Really irritated that they released the notifications after they had already closed their office hours. I will have to hit them up Monday and be like wtf, because I have everything required by Ulink. Gonna first call my CC transfer advisers and talk with them, then call UCSD.

i’m gonna call admissions when I can and ask why I got rejected (probably because of IGETC and because of my one-year transfer) hopefully i can address these issues in my appeal. im devastated since ucsd is my top choice…
Just got rejected from UCSD for Engineering.
I was a bit sad but, I just visited Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and came to the conclusion that, this is where I NEED to be.
I don’t think UCSD would have been a good fit.
