Housing Message is Legit!
Dear Fall 2016 applicant looking through and through this thread hoping to quell your anguish and crush your doubts regarding the “housing trick”:
It works and it’s legit.

GPA: 3.51
Pre-Reqs: Missing 3
Accepted: Arizona State University, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
Waitlisted: UC San Diego

I am pretty shocked right now.
I thought UCSD would be harder to get into since their bioengineering program is top 10 in the nation. I also thought UCLA would be more holistic. Haha

Pre-Reqs: done
IGETC: done

Super stoked, and super happy with my outcome. Can’t wait to see what the future holds, hard work really does pay off!
Status: Accepted
Major: Undeclared (had applied as CS major)
GPA: 3.59 (should be higher by the end of the spring semester)
IGETC: Completed
Pre-Reqs: Missing some math and a physics (which is why I probably didn’t get accepted into the CS program directly - I started all the way from the bottom of the math totem pole - hadn’t been in school in years - hence why I have my IGETC completed, yet math still incomplete)
Ec: My only EC really was being a CS Tutor for all the CS courses offered at my CC I attend, apart from working at other jobs while going to school.

Major: Philosophy with intent to attend law school.
So happy!!! This was the only UC school I applied to because I love living in SD!
Congratulations to everyone who got accepted and, for those did not, know that if you keep trying to live your dreams eventually they will come true.
I’m just a small town girl out of Alabama who dreamed big, joined the military, saw the world, and worked hard to get an associates and become who I am today. Being told no just gives you a reason to raise hell and, show the world you’ll go on and still be just fine.
@nikkkkko same here

Anyone know how being undeclared will work out in SD? Will I have to prove myself and maybe have to stay an extra year completing all requirements to officially be noted as having a CSE major by the school?
Do we get a letter from UCSD detailing why they decided to reject admission? Or do we just have to call them and find out?
I was so scared because my housing message changed to the bad one at 4PM yesterday…

What is this housing trick everyone is talking about? I’m actually now worried that I won’t get housing somehow my first year as a transfer. Does anyone know if transfers get 1st year guaranteed housing like other UC’s? Will I have a problem finding spots in my dorm at Marshall?
Please and thank you everyone in advance for helping me out! Hope to see/meet some of you fellow students in Fall 2015!
