UC San Diego Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

is there still another batch?

I submitted mine that night!
I can’t post the link but if you search “UC San Diego” it should be there :slight_smile: congrats! @bmirza991

anyone know of any sites for admitted students? I’d like to get to know some of you who will be attending UCSD, I will be dorming (The Village houses transfers) and I’d like to know people! :smiley:

BTW: major: sociology
college: ERC

@csayala93 that’s awesome! i have a part time job as a math tutor and im doing some hospital volunteer work at the moment too. congrats again and thanks for answering!

@zayran They will send you a link that takes you to a site where you can meet other UCSD students

@LilBoosie It’s very easy to meet people. If you live on campus, you have the automatic friendship of the group of people in your suite/floor/house. Large classes make it easy to move around and meet people. The clubs/orgs are really friendly and love new members. Adventure Club is really fun. The overall atmosphere of UCSB is very welcoming and everyone is incredibly nice. You won’t have a problem making friends.

Yy intended major was Mechanical Engineering but I got in for undeclared. What does that mean? I also got into Warren College.

@ReetaZam thank you!

@cecilia247 Sorry I just saw this, but No i did not!

@TonyStark93 I also got in as Econ! UCSD definitely has the upper hand academically and ranking wise.
I frequently visit SD since my brother attended it and my gf currently goes there and in all honesty its much more nicer than SB but it definitely isn’t the same when it comes to partying. Im not really much of party person anyways so SD is perfect more me. Hope you make the right choice!

@WTFScreenName I’m with you. I think the Math/CS major would be good if you wanted to get into some kind of analyst or financial programming position w- which I would like very much. I’m sure it’s a great major but yeah, there could definitely be more programming classes. I would be concerned about constantly trying to validate that it was as legit as the CSE majors to my employer. Clearly it would prove you’re no dummy, but would they believe you can program? I’m already a programmer so I have experience learning new languages as it is, but idk. I also don’t want to go as undeclared and possible never get into a CSE major. That would suck…a lot. I just want to go in and not worry about that part of it, it’s just another stressful thing to add to this already stressful experience.

I think it really will depend on UCI for me so I hope they hurry up. UCSD is an amazing school but this feels like a half-victory! Plus, there is no amazing aid package or anything so unless I don’t get into UCI I don’t think I’ll be going to UCSD.

Let me know what they say. I will try to contact them as well.

@WTFScreenName, btw, which college did you choose? I chose Revelle, which may have been a horrible mistake.

hi I am not officially committed to ucsd because i am still waiting for uci. i think i will pretty much end up going to ucsd though. i want to switch to marshall if i do end up going to ucsd, my college is roosevelt. which college do you want to switch to?

@WTFScreenName @cc2ucCSandMATH
I’m in the same boat as you guys. Got accepted into Warren as a MATH - CS major, my listed alt to CSE - CS . I’m really contemplating whether I should go to Davis, which accepted me into a legit CS major if I don’t get into UCB or UCLA(they are still reviewing my app). I really want to be able to take advantage of the CS courses offered at the UC that I go to, and MATH - CS at UCSD might not give me that opportunity.

Already got a call from UCSD apparently one of my classes was online via a different college and I listed it as my primary CC, once I submit appeal should be all good.

@rainndrops Unfortunately, unless you can show evidence that the requirements of the college you are in would stop you from graduating within 4 years despite the fact that you are on top of your stuff, you cannot switch colleges. Even then, it is still really hard to get this done. Not saying it’s impossible for you, but if you are able to, switch to Muir. College GE’s, even in Roosevelt (I’m in Roosevelt as a transfer right now), are not that bad, especially if you have IGETC/Partial IGETC/UC Reciprocity.
